Oracles currently are in a weird space were they end up being mages that use weapons to cast spells with a few generic rites that hopefully won’t be turned into a spell (spirit barrage, rain, and wall). Where relics really shine are the 2 unique rites each relic has. So I came up with ideas for alternate behaviors for the unique rites under specific conditions.
So to actually use divine rites, it requires a few steps. Step 1: the relic is imbued with the god’s soul from the god that created the relic. Step 2: Have the relic exclusive rite on the last slot as an ultimate art. This should also come at the cost of more energy being used and a cooldown that’s longer than the average cooldown for ultimate arts
So here are the ideas for each unique rite
Astrapikis - sends 3 vertical slashes a short distance away from the user (colossal cleave X SD: Mountain wind)
Astropos - Buffs movement speed, high jumps and dodge reflexes teleport, reduces move cooldown
Nichtetheis - A short surge of spirit energy that disorients targets longer
Nichtaplia - Reduces attack speed of target nearby
Aithoro - Create a blast that has a large explosion that deals no damage. Any target hit by the explosion will explode every few seconds for a short amount of time
Aithiraki - Creates a complete 1 to 1 clone of the user
Thakrousi - The explosion at the end of the attack creates waves that block projectiles and push back targets
Thalakyma - Creates a whirlpool that redirects projectiles in the direction of their origin (Self AOE) before splitting off into waves in 8 directions
Flomva - Create a large cluster bomb that explodes into a shower of smaller blasts
Floganymai - Create a radiating spiral of columns that explode after being made
Anyways let me know what you think. Did I burn down the kitchen once more or did I actually cook something edible
As always
This would make high level relics way too complicated not gonna lie. The reason why the current exclusive rites are simple is because they’re from low level relics, not to mention relics with the same blessings (For example all relics blessed by Nyx) would allow their exclusive rites be used with each other.
Higher level relics would have stronger exclusive rites where it now manipulates surrounding nature to deal damage. An example from the trello before the description was changed was summoning thunderstorm which uses lightning to strike people. At some point in the future, the ideal would be to have a lot of relics from all Gods to make a single relic full of exclusive rites. The problem with this is that there are a lot of Gods so to fill in the blanks, you’ll still have to use basic rites regardless.
what if we instead removed all rites and instead made skill creator
Yeah I honestly haven’t given much though to relics later on. I also had the idea of each god getting 1 relic which honestly short sighted and would be a problem depending on how many unique gods are added. I also completely forgot about the extent relics can be used. Either way I feel like having a relic capable of using any exclusive rite is like having a weapon that can use any skills, it doesn’t make too much sense since the rites (that are currently in the game) imitate a natural phenomenon that a certain god is responsible for (Astrapikis on anything that isn’t a zeus relic seems weird to me).
I like the concept but I feel like it could be used in a different way rather than a new variation of the rites since it’d get very complicated quick. This could work really well for one of Oracle’s 2nd awakening perks.
yo respectfully this suggestion would add nothing to oracle. Not only do you need to have the gods soul to even use the divine rite (we only have 2 souls right now which means this wouldn’t work on any relic besides the Tidestone Band)
You also tried to fix the issue of “oracles receiving scraps from mages” by adding inferior ultimate arts to their unique moves. Like sure the moves are cool, but people already dont use ultimate arts besides aura because of how long they take to cast.
As of right now, your idea would only work by removing step 1 and just suggesting these as ultimate art variants to each of these moves. That works better.
Edit: I will also add, that even if you do this. This doesn’t fix the issue of oracles being bootleg mages since most of their moveset is still bootleg mage moves
I appreciate the criticism, I honestly have only 1 slot that has ultimate arts available and I never considered how impracticable they are (especially in pvp, I rarely engage in pvp so it’s pretty much the last thing I think about) because of how long you’re held in place.
Same here to hell with pure builds
