Diving (9 Characters)

One of the MOST underrated things I actually rarely see mentioned by others or hyped up is diving. For those that don’t know, Diving (or Diving Spots) are a feature that plans to have spots that the player can go in and dive for treasure. One of the largest complaints that i see of sea travel is that MANY still consider it boring (yes despite ship combat, cargo, castaways, etc.) and i very well think THIS might be a fix to it.

Just image for a second, your out sailing, and then, suddenly you see a dark spot in the ocean; Knowing this is a diving spot, this gives you 2 options: Keep going on, or dive down for treasure and possibly die, loosing your ship (and cargo/ chests aboard) as a possibility, but in return if you come back alive you are GREATLY rewarded (Sealed chests, HOPEFULLY NEW CHEST TYPE, Potential shark farming strat).

I also see diving as a possible chance to make room for a new loot pool, like hear me out: How many of you guys actually ENJOY fishing for sunkens? Well diving could be a fix. It would make sense from a gameplay standard and lore/ realism stance aswell due to them being, well, sunken. This could also maybe allow for more “Sunken” themed items like image a sunken SPEAR, or a sunken GREATSWORD.

Anyways I just wanted to bring this underrated little feature to light and potentially hype it up, what do you guys think?

i’m also excited for diving for more loot opportunities

I never thought of it like that before. When you put it like that, I can’t wait for it to be in!

eh idk we dont sink quickly enough and you always gotta waste at least 2/3 of your air going down then swimming back up
if theres more water mazes again i give up

I mean I’m pretty sure the whole point of diving is that you would stock up on water-breathing potions

this also means diving helmets actually work :poggers2:

It’s a cool idea but by no means will make sailing more fun, it’s just swimming down for loot which will be fun the first few times then become monotonous again

just swim down instead of sink

Well i would assume diving would be randomly generated, maybe so some spots are more shallow/ deep than others so there is a chance of higher risk/ reward, It could also as i mentioned cause conflict between choosing to risk dying (and possibly loosing chests/ cargo you had on board), or just passing them :person_shrugging:

it’d be cool if there were a maze variant

I’m assuming they’ll be randomly generated too, but it’ll just be a different looking place full of loot with the same obstacle from what I think

Sunken trident when :triumph:

Pls no I’m still suffering in whispering caverns

I’m definitely the kind of person that would drop everything and loot a diving spot with a full ship full of cargo

Can’t wait for diving. Seems like the perfect opportunity to sink someones ship for no reason because you know they are away from it!

There is a quest in Ravenna in which dude explain to us about fishing for treasure (prob sunken loot too) and then our character asks him why not dive for it, then he answers thats he is too old for it. This quest is probably small hint of diving.

I hope there will be some sort of shark repelent potion like in AA, diving down to get some treasure only to have to fight ~13 sharks on the way down there does not sound appealing.
That or there could be some sort of a limiter on how many sharks can be near a diving spot cause yesterday i saw about 5 just bundled up in the ocean next to eachother.
