I mean I get that they apply ship stats but they don’t fight? On all of the showcases none of these guys do any fighting even when they get boarded. Plus some of these guys have a health count which implies that these morons can die but they can’t fight?
Also are magic cannonballs from a deckhand or vice captain npc since whenever I’ve seen them on a showcase theyre a different magic from the actual player. Is this a part of the ship or can you buy cannonballs of certain magic?
Anyway these guys are pretty lame if they can’t fight. I would pick a cool fighter over some ship speed accessory any day, though I’m assuming this would start lagging once all of your 30 dudes start fighting a ship full of marines
No, currently all deckhands, quartermaster and ship crewmates do is man cannons and increase certain stats,
It’s actually the cannons themselves that are magic, not the cannonballs. Arcanium cannons attune to one of your magics (or a random magic if you become a non-magic build) and can be traded with other players. So I can get a fire cannon from a fire mage through trading.
This is probably one of the main reasons why, plus I imagine battles might become too easy if you had a handful of NPCs helping you during naval encounters that are balanced to be doable by just one person.
However, vetex has apparently thought about making deckhands and such being able to fight sometime in the future. Hopefully he’s able to do it once the game’s optimized enough that dynamic NPCs won’t cause lag.
Forgive me if i’m wrong, but i think i heard vetex said in the futere after release, there going to be able to fight alongside you but for now. No and don’t quote me on it, i may be wrong
it would be nice if like 1 or 2 NPCs would aid you, so it’s not super laggy, but it would feel much more i m m e r s i v e and also could be a fun new challenge when fighting against other player ships.
