Do You Enjoy Dark Sea Expeditions

i fucking hate going to the dark sea and i only go there if I absolutely need to, and unfortunately for me, vetex locked behind the only free way to change your magic behind rng in the most fucking insufferable place in the entire game, the dark sea :broken_heart:
kid you not I spent nearly the entire day today searching for a hecate, and the moment I find it (like 10 mins ago), it won’t let me choose the magic i want to replace my first with because I already had it as my second magic due to me being a mage and can we please talk about why doesn’t hecate have a prompt to let you cancel the magic change because seriously, if that were to be the case I could’ve just stat resetted, switched my second magic and interacted with hecate again to choose the one I wanted, but no, now I gotta search for another one and definitely get stressed, bored and unhappy since that’s all the dark sea brings me, unhappiness

Also did vetex increase the spawnrates for the omen because oh my fucking god this bitchass motherfucker spawned over 5 or more times on me and killed me at least three times because his janky ai won’t let go off my brig even with me constantly attacking the tentacle attached to it

like oh my god this shit is so damn fun am i right, i either waste my time progressing a file through the story i’ve read over 20 times by now or i waste my time in the dark sea until my ears start bleeding from the loud wave crash and non stop thunderstrike vfx that are the cherry on top for you to fully dislike the dark sea as a whole

i feel sick before even entering insanity 1

as a member of a guild with the sole purpose of being dark sea expeditioners, i despise the dark sea and everything in it

No.

the omen has a 99% chance of spawning when you are doing a hecate run, it has a 0% chance of spawning on an omen run.

Nobody enjoys anything in the Dark Sea. It’s entire design is to be as miserable and boring as possible.

hell nawt

The first few expeditions had suspense, now it’s just a chore. A boring miserable one

Heh, that was expected to here from yall. It is true that the Dark Sea is an extremely unfair, rng-dependant and tedious place to explore. Nevertheless, it is my favourite in the game.

I got used to the “unfair” part already, I know how to play around it. Islands there are a great place to farm exclusive animal drip, Atlantean weapons and a lot of reagents. Just the thought of that reward keeps me going. The Far Reaches are even better - much safer due to brigs and ketches rarely ever spawning, as well as no random “Sorry, I’ll be taking away 6k durability now for no reason and with no way of avoiding it!“ giant krakens.

I am still missing the time the Dark Sea was rainless. I know I will see it again in the future, I just don’t know when…

Apparently not. Been in the Far Reaches nearly thirty times at this point, never seen one. I am trying, but it just doesn’t appear

I’ve complained about the Dark Sea in my own post a bit ago, where it was said that it was supposed to be a test of endurance, but was rather a test of patience.

It makes so much sense, it takes a morbillion years to read the far reaches, you can never find what you actually need because RNG likes to fuck you over, and everything damaging in the Dark Sea is basically DoT

Okay, acid waves are the most unfair thing ever, but they’re not alone.

Meet the Team:

Random sunken forest spawning right in front of you

Brigs

Tornadoes

Krakens

Also, worth addresssing, the sheer uselessness of Dark Sealed chests after the fleets were added

I HATE SUNKEN FORESTS
I RUN INTO DOUBLE DIGITS OF THEM BEFORE I FIND A FUCKKKIING ISLAND

The Dark Sea is SO much worse now with the spawns STILL messed up and as you said;

We need a Dark Sea update 2 or some shit.

I have NO idea why their spawnrates were jacked up like that during FR’s development. Before, I spent hours trying to find at least one. Nowadays, that useless structure that spans across more area than, probably, the Epicenter, is everywhere! And it doesn’t have ANY worthwhile loot, that tiny tower and platform ain’t cutting it!

it fucking sucks
reduce sunken forest, volcano and double volcano spawnrate Please.

I’m still lost on how spawn rates were ruined in the first place, as it wasn’t just dark sea, it was virtually ALL spawn rates; Criminals and ships.

I really don’t believe Vetex and the other developers understand priority in game development, as messed-up spawn rates were a pretty major issue that was only fixed relatively long after FR.

Despite the fixes, the Dark Sea is STILL busted in spawns.

you will go through 50 copy pasted islands to farm atlantean essences and sell them for 465k a piece

I’m not even mad that you didn’t know you couldn’t just stat reset, because now I know what happens if I’m ever too lazy for a stat reset

Frankly, everything about the Dark Sea feels tedious. The time it takes to get to the Dark Sea. The time it takes to get to the next range. The fact that you can’t tell where the next range will begin, unless you have ungodly spacial awareness. Water Poisoning. The constant lightning and waves. Spiralling stuff (tornadoes and whirlpools). The fact that sensing keeps the screen darkened for a bit after you disable it, when the Dark Sea already lives up to its name. The RNG. I get a feeling that, if there weren’t things you can only get or do in the Dark Sea, people would never enter it at all, except by accident.

Genuinely, the worst feature about the Dark Sea at the moment.
It quite literally stops exploration, forcing the player to go back and clean themselves in a small basin.

For what purpose? to emulate~ the dangerous nature of the Dark Sea? No, it’s only to stop them from actually having fun.

With enemies spawning on the Dark Sea islands, you have the OPTION of ignoring them although losing any loot that came from them or the area they spawned in, or fighting them.

With water poisoning (and in technicality water hazards, e.g. Tornados, Waves, etc.), you don’t have a way of avoiding it, sure you can wash yourself, but it’s as far as I am aware; RNG based on when you’ll receive water poisoning.

For water hazards, you physically can’t avoid them because of their intensity, making it so if you don’t have a high defense ship, it’ll eventually chip it down to nothing.

It’s such a horribly designed feature despite being one of the coolest.
