I randomly thought of this with my friends. I remember hearing them say that the previous generation always hates the next one.
Yes.
Brainrot is like a communicable disease. Just one bloodline of pure idiots can completely pollute an entire generation. An idiot and a genius’ child will be less smart than the genius, and if that child marries another idiot, the child will be even less smart… and it keeps going and going.
Of course, the brainrot can be remedied by only letting geniuses reproduce with geniuses, but that kind of thing would probably require mass genocide and some form of terrorism to get done. Also, it’s probably illegal. You can dash your hopes of destroying brainrot once and for all away.
People, given a reasonable culture with non-stupid or sexist dating ideals, tend to gravitate towards partners of somewhat similar intelligence. This happens naturally in most cases.
Which would explain why people today are still “smart”. Medicine and technologies are still being made, new business ideas pop up, etc etc, even in the early 2000s- apparently we were in the peak of an average intelligence among children.
Then Tiktok came along and further increased the brainrot. Hell, you don’t even have to be watching Tiktok to get affected- Youtube Shorts, for instance. And if you have the mental strength to resist both YT shorts and Tiktok, you have to deal with people that actually watch those things yourself.
I’ve seen it happen. Perfectly reasonable kids turning into “skibidi rizz” ramblers after spending a few weeks in their new school, or new class.
I’m less sure Tiktok actually creates brainrot, rather it just exposes the general stupidity we haven’t known about until now.
Key word, increased. You’re right- the stupidity we didn’t know could be possible is being exposed, and I believe it brings out the worst in certain people.
New generations (children) copy the previous generation, which they look up to. What previous generations make or do as a joke or trend, the new generation takes to heart. This is how I think memes kept becoming dumber and dumber. I remember being a kid during the years of doritos and mountain dew, snoop dog, mlg pro, etc. Kids my age repeated that stuff, and tried to apply them to the jokes we made. Eventually we get older, and are now the ones who make the trendy memes. And the cycle repeats.
Some people back then thought that D&D, Pokemon, video games, etc. were brainrot (actually some also thought they were the work of the devil) - this kind of stuff goes back literal millennia
Obviously with the power of the internet, the “brainrot” can spread much farther and make it seem more prevalent than pre-internet days. But honestly the stuff people call brainrot like skibidi toilet and whatever isn’t even that bad. I mean when most of the generation I’m in were growing up during the late 2000s/early 2010s we had stuff like MLG and youtube poop, which were just as mentally ill. I mean, does anybody remember the genuine horror that was “shrek is love, shrek is life” ?
wasnt that straight up actually just porn
basically lmao, crazy how it was a meme
We got people in the 1950’s calling rock music a brainrot back then
@BlueYonder
I remember that video, to this day it still serves as a reminder to not judge younger people immediately
thank goodness i never knew about that then
Boomers have hippies
GenXers have goth culture
Millennials have popular girls
GenZer have MLG and ugandan knuckles
GenAlpha havve Skibidi toilet
Overall we all had brainrot that we thought was the norm
Listen, hear me out.
Skibidi Toilet is just Elvis all over again, in a different age bracket.
I am going to fucking die on this hill, and not by my own accord. And god dammit, I accept this fate.
Every generation has its brainrot indeed.
Every generation has its own brainrot but MY brainrot is better than everyone elses brainrot
Yeah gen 5s are always on my nerves I can’t believe they don’t respect their elders.
Well I’m gonna explain this really dumbed down because I don’t feel like writing a pragraph on that topic but it’s still gonna be a bit long
If a person sees someone inferior to them, of course they’re going to get ahead of themselves. In this case it’s kids/teens/young adults against adults. The older generation will always see those below them as less than them because of the age difference, intelligence difference and numerous other factors
Everyone can probably relate. You can’t tell me you have never looked down on someone (and not because of height difference) because they were younger than you
It can be as simple as looking at a baby or young child and thinking “what a helpless dumb little thing”
This is a very human thing so naturally all generations will shit on the ones younger than them. This doesn’t have a lot to do with the current state of society to put it lightly, it’s just that it’s a contributing factor
You know, extremely valid point.
Sorry for the shabby quality, had to compress it a lot to get it here.
Maybe that’s a good thing though.
