(for those of you unaware, magius is the name of the continent that world of magic takes place - world of magic being basically the testing version of AO)
I’ve been wondering if AO and WOM share the same universe. There are a tribe of bandits named the dark sea bandits, so that implies that the dark sea exists in WOM and they’re aware of it. I think it would be neat to have one of the future seas be just Magius. It would have to be an expanded version of the existing WOM map, but probably not the full intended map that’s shown on the in-game map.
A problem with this though is mobility. Walking around most islands is pretty quick in AO, but walking across an expanded WOM map would be a pain. This could possibly be solved by a series of sky cities above mountains, with flying ships and docks to each one. I think it would be a really fun map to explore, and give a change from the environment of the other seas. (Not that there’s anything wrong with the other seas, I love the naval battles and the work put into ships.)
Alright so basically, the franchise is a bit of a split timeline. In one timeline Vetex makes WoM lore, and in the other timeline Vetex makes AO lore. Arcane Adventures happens in both of them.
In the WoM timeline, everybody from AA goes to magius and dies of old age. In the AO timeline, everything is just happening somewhere else and we have no idea what’s going on over there.
So technically Magius COULD be a thing in AO’s canon, but that doesn’t mean we’ll see it.
They did; Magius and WoM was originally the sequel to Arcane Adventures, and it took place about 1000 years after the events of AA. However this is now no longer part of the lore since WoM was reworked into Arcane Odyssey, which takes place a few months after AA on the opposite side of the world.
So Magius won’t be a thing in AO, and we’re unlikely to ever see it again since Arcane Odyssey is vetex’s last game
wom is canon, just not to the AO storyline. wom takes place a thousand years after AA in the seven seas, while AO is at the same time as AA in a separate part of the world. it’s still canon, it’s just irrelevant to our story right now.
When Magius was canon, weren’t they on other sides of the world, or at least far away sea clusters that they had almost no interaction (cough, cough Thorne)?
No.
Magius was located in what was the ruins of the Seven Seas after Acheron threw his second hissy fit and blew up, formed from the Peacekeeper trying to prevent/reverse as much damage from the explosion as possible with all their strength.
No, Magius’ creation was retconned and removed from the lore doc a long time ago. Vetex’s reasoning, I believe, was “What happens in Arcane Odyssey will have a huge impact on the rest of the world”
So how AO ends will probably determine the new ending for the Seven Seas.
The nimbus wilds are huge, and in one showcase from Rayman_Axel were revealed to have the old WoM ost, so that’s the closest thing we’re probably gonna get to Magius in AO.
Crimsonpants, one of AO’s testers outright said this about them:
