Do you think the Grand Navy fits in the War Seas?

They let the Navy deal with piracy and criminals, while their legally blind troops ignore the known threat to the safety of the entire kingdom in an assassin’s creed cosplay.

both

I mean in the narrative perspective it makes sense. I understand from Vetex’s statements and whats said in game how it came to be and what role it serves. Based on already past events that have happened in the story as well as what Vetex has said about future appearances it does seem like they will have a role in the main story. Even then they don’t really need to as they can just exist as an interesting part of the world building that’s involved with a lot of side content both with players joining the gn and future side bosses like Mizeria.

In universe I honestly don’t know what I would think. Irl I think an organization like that which can interfere with other nations and holds what seems to hold a lot of power over other nations and can do basically whatever and leaving no room for protest, would be a bad thing. It’s like a UN except instead of being made up of a bunch of nations all over the world that try to work together to keep things chill globally it’s just one country that’s making the calls. After the initial treat signing it’s basically entirely up to the GN for what it does.

However if I was someone in universe I don’t know if I would think that way. Pirates are a massive problem in the War Seas and it seems like the GN are the only ones who can effectively handle them. A lot of the other kingdoms are tied up in the near constant conflict between each other. I think as civilian in that world I would be more scared of pirates or genocidal rulers with nuke powers than I would of the GN having too much power. I’d probably feel like the GN was basically a necessity to the survival of basically any town that isn’t very important to the kingdom it belongs to.

I like to imagine that they just pull up at Caitara whenever they need to execute somebody from Shieldguard.
They don’t get permission or anything, they just kill somebody out there before the guards can show up.

Yall just be looking for shit to complain about atp

what no patch notes releases does to a mfers

realistically every kingdom does this and its likely gonna be added whenever kingdom alignment is supposed to come out (i forgot its changed too much)

but with the Grand Navy in place, kingdoms likely have less focus on the sea in regards to criminals and similar threats and allow the grand navy to do some of that work for them

the navy of the kingdoms still undoubtedly defend waters close to their territories (and for some kingdoms like Keraxe I imagine this would extend through most if not all of their sea depending on how much they control and their general behavior)

I imagine the farther away you go from any kingdom the more the Grand Navy starts doing that job instead

basically grand navy does criminal hunting far out into the sea so the kingdoms dont need to

its like the arcane UN

Yes, but it is an example of a piece of media with universally loved world building. The world of one piece is very cartoonish but everything within the world feels like it belongs together

That sounds pretty fair.

I’d imagine it’s probably unrealistic for a completely neutral faction that spans around every territory to exist and solely have the purpose to catch some criminals.
Normally the kingdoms should regulate their own territory for the unwanted.

However it would make sense considering the hierarchy in AO and the singular power a individual can get, there’d be an influx of powerful criminals and a lack of need for power in society when you could just train and get hella strong.

so in AO it’d make sense to have the GN or else it’d be pure anarchy, in a civilization/real world aspect probably not.
