I agree with you. My characters only use powers from the WoM universe and theyāre not overpowered. One of them canāt use magic and heās arguably more powerful than the other one
You act like your characters were already born with lost or primordial magic, but thereās a specific flaws for those, how can a guy named Jay already use Promethean Flame by reading an ancient writing conveniently placed in the exact location where he is. He wasnāt born without an Hex mark to learn it, he never did any legendary task to achieve the magic in sorts of ways.
