Dragon Flight

Can’t wait for Arcane Odyssey: The Dragon Movie starring Jerry Seinfeld

And those physical dynamics tend to just be “magic energy sure does weird shit huh”
Why would that not apply to an explicitly magic race like dragons

Magic energy being able to do whatever it wants is explained by there being multiple elements that do different things and can apply different effects. What isn’t explained is how an item gets some effects from magic and not others, which I don’t like.

I still don’t understand how sea salt spending years being pelted by magic energy in the sea makes it more capable of absorbing said magic energy and not less.
If you fill a bottle, you can only put less and less content inside, not more!

It’s kind of circular actually, isn’t it? Supposedly it’s the salt that conducts magic energy and the metal is getting full of magic salt, but how is the salt getting filled with magic energy? I will not take “it’s magic crystals” as an answer.

if the sea is magically induced (which is why curse users can’t really swim), then it’s likely that any substance in the water that can be easily infused into metal will be able to conduct it better

man ts some fnaf remnant bullcrap

It’s like weathering, the more times magic passes through something the more things blocking it get sanded off until it smoothly conducts it

you’re not going to believe this.
It’s magic crystals.

real shit though it makes no sense, hence why it’s magic and can therefore… make sense?

I just don’t like magic systems that don’t give a proper explanation.
You’re telling me this wooden stick with a rock attached is able to shoot fire? It’s so uncool to just have things in fantasy without giving them a reason.

I don’t like Runescape if you can’t tell.

But unlike Runescape, Vetex introduced fantasy science into his world, and simply failed to utilize it.

Agreed, additionally; the fact that in most magic systems, magic is an all-powerful thing that only “few” can use.

magic in the real world (it doesn’t exist, but beliefs did) it was used for… ordinary shit, like cursing greg to fall off his horse, magic should be ordinary.
of course this doesn’t explain what magic is, but it’s still a better state than gods among humans.

Yeah I feel like too often in fantasy stories do people with powers only use those powers for fighting
Like, if a farmer discovers he can create fire at will, he won’t suddenly rush to fight bandits and topple empires, at best he’s gonna use it to help clear empty fields of weed, easily light the fireplace, see in the dark etc.

Autistic people exist, yet very few of them actually go into science or whatever other stereotypical field is there for autistic people

To be fair, i think if any mage caught you using the “God’s Greatest Gift” given to like a thousand people at best, to light fireplaces and eviscerate weeds on your lawn (Even though that’s probably what the God intended), they’d actually just have you pelted with rocks.

… Or maybe they go “Oh shit, maybe a better investiment of my lifespan and energy would be to set up a stable life, get married, raise kids and lead a peaceful life on a farm using my magic as tools to help me tend to and protect what’s mine, instead of rushing from one fight to the other, constantly getting brushed by death, fighting people for the sake of the fight itself and risking my life all the time for no real reason”

Let’s just hope that your wife also has an extended lifespan which you most likely do in most fantasy worlds….

Mages aren’t allowed to get husbands?

Oops!!!

Also more about the whole extended life thing,

Would you really not get bored of sitting with your ass on the fields all life long for 500 years??? Not burning a bandit even once?? Just watching everyone die around you.

Hell, if i was in such a case, I’d also go on some fuckass adventure that will most likely kill me, I’ve got nothing else to do!

People are different.
Some people enjoy destruction, action, all that.
Some people enjoy calmness, tranquility and all that.
Of course there are some cases where these overlap, however; not everyone will have the same experiences/personality.

You know at some point, even if you’re the calmest monk through all of the seas. The process of doing the same thing over and over again for 5 centuries, will grow old, just like you. You can’t enjoy peace and tranquility if there isn’t even anything you’d have to calm down from in the first place.
