The hit detection for the dragons, or at least the system associated with damaging them is so buggy and inconsistent it ruins the update for me.
Some moves will hit it (and deal damage) and other moves will hit it and just do nothing from the same distance. I don’t even know why’d you make distance matter in the first place WHEN IT LITERALLY HASN’T MATTERED AGAINST ANY OTHER ENEMY EVER without even explaining it. It just makes the PvE experience less fun and overly annoying.
Here’s me attacking a dragon
Right before this I had hit it with a sword slash
This is me hitting it from the same distance, angle, and literally everything but instead of using sword slash im using piercing gale. NO DAMAGE
Genuinely how does stuff like this get past testing, does no one comment on the systems and how enjoyable they are whatsoever? Does no one think “hey lets try damaging the dragons and lets make sure THE MOST BASIC FIGHTING MECHANIC WORKS CONSISTENTLY”
I can +1 this issue, I’ve had on several accounts shot twin cresents at a dragon, only for it to mog me and not take damage.
Bows just don’t work at all, fired quickdraw at it; nothing, hunter’s delta; nothing, m1; nothing.
My first dragon spawned in, didn’t really do anything so I fired a blast at it… nothing, I tried twin cresents, nothing, then after a while it finally woke up and I could damage it, but then again the situations I stated in the upper section still happened.
Now that I look back on it… I did manage to get a bow to trigger once, it was an m1 and dealt piss poor damage since not only are bow m1s super nerfed, but they are double nerfed by the 50% reduction with m1s on dragons.
+1
Hitboxes are extremely jank, especially at distance. Mostly observed this with Ray only hitting if I aimed at a specific area of its chest, but Meteor also seems worthless beyond the initial projectile. The AoE rarely affects it.
Also, do they just have immunity to attacks fired beyond a certain range? Even with some range investment (and visual feedback of the attack hitting), the dragons don’t take damage from attacks beyond a certain range.
I’ve had this issue primarily with Full Grown+ dragons.
Given that the dragon arenas are entirely barren minus some trees and rocks, this is unlikely.
Imma give divanochi the benefit of the doubt because hes chill but I think he means its the system thats bugging rather than some innate thing that we’re doing wrong
to be fair it was slapped on in legit only the release version
Idk why they wouldnt have done this sooner or something though its frustrating because there was no room to even see if it worked??!?!
Mostly this, LoS issues were mostly mitigated during Full Release but they do still have instances where they’re frustratingly unreliable. Since LoS was added to dragons fairly recently, there might be something making it a more prominent issue with dragons
Although I have heard other testers mentioning issues with certain moves needing to hit oddly specific areas of the dragon hitbox for it to do damage, so it’s likely something other than los causing it
