Dragons - first impressions from a Dark Sea enjoyer

Well, we’re here. The most diverse set of enemies drop-wise has arrived! So, how has it been?

First, the devs didn’t lie - the AI and the battle experience felt great. But, I feel like there was too much of that battle thing - every island is just dragons, and barely anything else. If the spawn rates were increased temporarily on purpose, so the people could get a good look at the update - fair enough. If this spawnrate is a bug, please fix it.

Second, I like the drop diversity. Scales being purely for sale is kinda lame, but the weapons and the armour ain’t bad. Easily recognisable drip potential. The weapons being locked behind warrior (unless its a strenght weapon) was a letdown, but not a big one. Great work, big V!

The devs even disabled Stealth pulling a hp nuke out of their ahh by clicking Assassinate on a dragon - it just doesn’t work. This is fair, even if it may be a bug - no need to fix anything here!

Special mention to the glider - people know I adore this tool, and I was glad to hear about more of these during the final days prior to the update. If the game wasn’t plagued by far more noteworthy issues, I’d be making a suggestion on the gliders to give them more functionality.

Speaking of the far more noteworthy issues - yeah, this update isn’t without them. For example, remember the last change to dragons? They received LoS requirement to damage them. And usually, it isn’t a problem. But, with how blind these creatures are, to the point where you have to stand directly in front of them to get noticed, if you ever go invisible before fighting a dragon (to get cool pics or something), you literally cannot start a fight until your invis runs out - animals tend to spawn stuck in terrain, and dragons are no exception. I ain’t carrying tide vials with me for that!

What’s next on the list? The location. Giving them a separate, large arena was a great idea - it surely helps. But, how do we get up there? Flight works, but what is I am a Warrior? Or a hybrid with not enough stat points to use Flight/Spirit Flight? Do the devs think we all carry tier 5 gale elixirs with us or what?

And, even the arena itself is flawed - multiple deep cracks that get opened during the fight, and you are highly likely to fall down there. Terrain regeneration may be fast, but getting stuck under some grass layer because the stone below got shattered is still a common thing.

So now, the worst thing - two of them, to be precise. The dragon’s arena is littered with tiny water puddles - each will erase a quarter of your hp if you dip a finger there. Are we fr? Was adding the poisoning mechanic to every body of water in the Dark Sea a good idea in your opinion, devs? The second thing is well-known to us - the member of Team Immersion, the Damaged/Ruined Armour mechanic! Our predictions were completely true, it is as terrible as it sounded like. All my points I brought about it in my Team Immersion’s suggestion still stand true.

Review’s over, I gotta get some sleep.

Honestly? I feel like Dragons are the one instance in which terrain destruction is actually beneficial to the game, though that’s only because of water poisoning’s existence. Get rid of that, and it becomes as annoying as ever.

You sure they’re on every dragon island? I only ended up finding one with them, and even then it was super out of the way.

yeah why was this added. It doesn’t even make fighting animals harder; all it does is make it more tedious most of the time.

Rain still gets you down there, you aren’t safe from water poisoning

No, they are dependant on the biome, they aren’t tied to dragons specifically. It is just that a dragon usually comes with a large, flat surface, perfect for spawning tons of these puddles

All it does make is sometimes disconnecting me, because repairing an item is done in the inventory and it refreshes it in the process multiple times, my laptop can rarely give up and remove my connection to the server

An issue I’m not sure if anyone else dealt with, was actually getting the note to be able to do the dragon blood ritual.
It’s supposed to be 1 in 3 chance if you got the note from a dragon.
It took me 24 of them to get it.

Dragonblood Ritual being purely just a stat boost is lame as hell, maybe I was expecting way too much, like having dragon-like eyes or anything else…

Dragons can sometimes do double damage on their stomp, I got one shotted by an Adolescent Dragon cuz of that.

I HATE the new ‘immersive’ feature called armor repairing or whatever it is, punishing our players for fighting for too long sure is interesting! (fun fact: not even that long)

And the worst part of the update is not even this new immersive feature, its the god damn LAG, I would enjoy these new mobs far better if I could get atleast a stable ~30 FPS

My specs btw: i5 14600kf, RTX 4070 Super, 32GBs of RAM

im probably a bit stressed, sorry :frsleepin:

Don’t get me wrong though, the actual dragons themselves are really cool

I think dragon islands should reward sealed chests and be easier to tell apart from normal islands at a glance, to make it fit in better with the rest of the dark sea.

But I also thing dark sealed chests should not exist and should be replaced with regular dark chests posthaste

Although one other thing though is that I think the distance at which the higher tier dragons become immune to attacks is maybe a little too short. Yeah I know it’s to prevent cheesing but I had to literally chase after one to be able to hit it once before it took off again.

I can litterally sense and see the one giant orb in the air by itself before i see the island

use your sensing for like 1 second to check

Not everyone can read sensing like poetry

It is not even hard, just glance slightly upward and check to see if there is a single entity up there

then you got a dragon on your hands

There are pillars that lead up to holes in the overhang.

I remember pointing out it never mentioned they never gave sealed chests in the trello and I was called crazy. Funny times we live in

im surprised they just give zero guild rep like at all

Something something lore that no one knows of these feats. Like no NPC reacting if you have the Athena title

Aside from appearance, does the dragonwing glider actually do anything different to the regular one?

(e.g. descends slower or ascends faster)

what.

It consumes less stamina. I think it might do something else but I’m not sure.

i hate how devastate doesn’t recognize dragon bodies as solid terrain to crash down into

What are you on about? Every dragon is guaranteed to have a note near it, sometimes two if the dragon isn’t Young. You were just not looking good enough for those. Maybe, they generated inside the terrain, but you can still see their glow and pick them up
