Well, we’re here. The most diverse set of enemies drop-wise has arrived! So, how has it been?
First, the devs didn’t lie - the AI and the battle experience felt great. But, I feel like there was too much of that battle thing - every island is just dragons, and barely anything else. If the spawn rates were increased temporarily on purpose, so the people could get a good look at the update - fair enough. If this spawnrate is a bug, please fix it.
Second, I like the drop diversity. Scales being purely for sale is kinda lame, but the weapons and the armour ain’t bad. Easily recognisable drip potential. The weapons being locked behind warrior (unless its a strenght weapon) was a letdown, but not a big one. Great work, big V!
The devs even disabled Stealth pulling a hp nuke out of their ahh by clicking Assassinate on a dragon - it just doesn’t work. This is fair, even if it may be a bug - no need to fix anything here!
Special mention to the glider - people know I adore this tool, and I was glad to hear about more of these during the final days prior to the update. If the game wasn’t plagued by far more noteworthy issues, I’d be making a suggestion on the gliders to give them more functionality.
Speaking of the far more noteworthy issues - yeah, this update isn’t without them. For example, remember the last change to dragons? They received LoS requirement to damage them. And usually, it isn’t a problem. But, with how blind these creatures are, to the point where you have to stand directly in front of them to get noticed, if you ever go invisible before fighting a dragon (to get cool pics or something), you literally cannot start a fight until your invis runs out - animals tend to spawn stuck in terrain, and dragons are no exception. I ain’t carrying tide vials with me for that!
What’s next on the list? The location. Giving them a separate, large arena was a great idea - it surely helps. But, how do we get up there? Flight works, but what is I am a Warrior? Or a hybrid with not enough stat points to use Flight/Spirit Flight? Do the devs think we all carry tier 5 gale elixirs with us or what?
And, even the arena itself is flawed - multiple deep cracks that get opened during the fight, and you are highly likely to fall down there. Terrain regeneration may be fast, but getting stuck under some grass layer because the stone below got shattered is still a common thing.
So now, the worst thing - two of them, to be precise. The dragon’s arena is littered with tiny water puddles - each will erase a quarter of your hp if you dip a finger there. Are we fr? Was adding the poisoning mechanic to every body of water in the Dark Sea a good idea in your opinion, devs? The second thing is well-known to us - the member of Team Immersion, the Damaged/Ruined Armour mechanic! Our predictions were completely true, it is as terrible as it sounded like. All my points I brought about it in my Team Immersion’s suggestion still stand true.
Review’s over, I gotta get some sleep.
