Dynamic NPC Dialogue/Gossiping

Details

Introduce a wide variety of NPC dialogue which would be uttered based on numerous factors, from appearing in the Agora to wearing rare armor in public to casting spells in front of civilians. Some examples include, but definitely aren’t limited to:

Donning rare armor in public: “That must’ve costed them a fortune!”
Mentioned in the Agora for saving Castaways: “Hey! I read about them in the paper!”
Walking in front of Ravenna soldiers while disguised: “Careful, that one looks suspicious…”
Exploring a completely new city for the first time: “Have you seen their face around here before?”
Mentioned in the Agora for attacking the Navy: “Oh man, we should stay away from them…”
Buying/selling a lot of stuff to shopkeepers: “Thank you for your patronage!”
Pulling out a rare weapon like a Sunken Sword: “So the legends were true!”

Reason to add

As of now the cities and towns in the game are little more than vending machines that are essentially only visited to dump off castaways or talk to a shopkeeper, mostly alchemists, smiths, and shipwrights. Half the civilians in said cities you can’t even talk to and are more or less around to make the place look not dead slightly.

It’d be great if, y’know, we gave them something to show that they are indeed alive and aren’t just mannequins with names above them that don’t respond to even the most violent things like a PvP duel happening before their eyes. With pretty much zero interactions, it really makes you feel you’re on a completely different plane of existence compared to these guys.

TL;DR: it’ll make the cities more alive and fit our characters into the game more.

If you don’t want to be spammed by civilians yelling at the top of their lungs about you, perhaps there’d be a setting to turn that off (similar to displaying spell names in chat feature).

Extremely creative suggestion

10/10

Archeage did something similar, it felt nice having the NPCs opinions evolve over time.

cool, makes the world and its people seem even more alive

this idea would be amazing if the dynamic citizen npcs in wom were still in the game. maybe adding a few npcs that walk around to big towns won’t lag the game too much and really make the game feel alive

YES

Can’t come up with any reason for this not to be added.

This is awesome.

Maybe even cheering on fights as they happen

Casting a spell as a positive rep: “woah, I wish I could do that!”
Casting a spell as a negative rep: “AHHH! Don’t hurt me please!”
Holding out an exotic fish in public: “What an incredible catch! They’re so lucky!”
Cooking a meal over 200 hunger points: “They must be making a picnic or something.”
Dying in front of NPCs: “Oh my… I’d best look away…”
Wearing calvus gear in any town on ravenna: “Wait a second… that armor looks awfully familiar…”
Wearing cernyx gear/cultist gear in any town: “Oh boy, another deranged greenwish cultist, I’d better steer clear…”
Doing cargo runs/selling/buying crates: “What a hard worker!”
Mentioned in the agora for killing commodre kai: “Oh no… it’s them… be careful…”
Mentioned in the agora for killing architect merlot: “Oh my! look! it’s them! they’re a hero!”

Put this in AO slander

yummy

Awesome.

Despite dynamic NPCs being a banned suggestion, this seems simple enough to add without affecting performance. I really hope this is added, it seems cool yet simple (and also more ways to stroke the ego of lucky people).

would be even better with bringing back randomly generated npcs (still unkillable)(don’t have any quests)

Literally no reason not to add this, extremely simple and above all would enhance the worldbuilding. Great idea.

It would really help with immersion of NPC’s had dialogue in reaction to whats happening around them, but i don’t have alot of faith in this actually being added due to the rules.
