When you refer to people as things like this it comes off very rude and like you’re distancing yourself from ppl “oh no i don’t associate with the blacks/gays” it sounds like something your conservative uncle joe from texas would say when the liberal gay niece drops by from college
“the students of that school” “the germans” “the blonds” “the children”, basically anytime you’re referring to a group of people you don’t include human in them, you don’t say “the human students of that school” or “the human children”
You forget that your examples are not marginalized groups that are discriminated against. There’s no issues with saying what you said but most ppl say “black people” and not “the blacks” as the latter comes off as well racist af cuz you’re distancing yourself from that group and basically dehumanizing them like that

that’s for nouns, transgender is an adjective
some words like german as you mentioned might be both an adjective or a noun depending on how you use it, but transgender isn’t one of these words; no one says “i’m a transgender” but people will say “i’m a blonde”. it is the same as how you wouldn’t refer to a group of tall people as “the talls” (or at least not properly)
