THIS IS NOT A SUGGESTION.
I fully intend to add a forum suggestion later depending on the results of this poll.
Imagine Vetex one day suddenly announced that he was adding Equinox then answer this poll:
- Lost Magic
- Primordial Magic

REASONS:
Reasons to add Equinox as a Lost Magic
Equinox fits better as a lost magic. Lost Magics are magics that are rare and ancient.
Lost Magics are generally based off of basic magics, only more powerful and, in a way, more specific. For example, Flare is a Lost Magic that focuses on AoE and DoT and its spells appear like solar flares. On the other hand, Primordial Magics are inherent powers that are far more conceptual. Life and Death are far deeper and far more important than magics like Aether and Darkness. Many of the others are based on concepts or ideas, Apocalypse Bringer being based on destruction, Art of Infinity being based on time, and Art of Order being based on good/evil. Lastly, Promethean Fire is the magic of a god, and as such fits best in the Primordials.
Equinox is simply a mix of two basic magics. It fits far better with the Lost Magics as opposed to the Primordial Magics. It is not an inherent power in the world, like Life or Death, nor is it based on an idea or concept.
Reasons to add Equinox as a Primordial Magic
Power.
First and foremost Equinox is supposed to be legendarily powerful. Wielded by a single person in all of known history, a single enormous blast of this magic destroyed an entire physical region, literally wiping an empire off the map. This is the kind of power associated with Primordial Magics like Promethean Fire.
Rarity.
Equinox is, lore-wise, exceptionally rare, used by a single person in all of history. This is in fact rarer than even Promethean Fire, and possibly makes it the rarest magic of all time. This doesn’t really set it as a Primordial, but is an argument to make it one.
EXECUTION:
How a Lost Magic Equinox could be added
Lore-wise, magic has changed a lot. Mutations no longer exist. Instead, one can learn them as basic magics.
Thus in order to explain the reappearance of Equinox as a Lost Magic, one could say that it has been recreated, but in a far more stable manner. It thus loses a lot of its potency but at the same time the negative affects (Equinox shortens the user’s lifespan) have been worked out.
In-game I can see Equinox as a powerful magic with incredible damage and destruction (probably the greatest out of all the Lost Magics), good clashes, Shadow’s speed, but costing 1.5x the magic energy. Rather than dealing all its damage in a single impact, it would deal half on impact and the other half over the next second. The player must have both Light and Shadow (possibly even in Mastered form) in order to use an Equinox scroll.
How a Primordial Magic Equinox could be added
Lore-wise Equinox would simply be a powerful Primordial magic, rediscovered and now capable of being used once imbued with its hex mark.
In-game it would be a powerful magic that again deals high damage and destruction (it would be one of the most damaging and destructive Primordials), good clashes, Light’s speed, costing 1.5x the magic energy, and dealing half its damage on impact and the other half over the next second. It would require the player to have both Mastered Light and Mastered Shadow before using their Primordial Magic Scroll.
Now here’s a mandatory picture of Equinox because that stuff looks epic:
