Eternity Man - Chapter 3

Erwin: Age 10

With his green cap on and his yellow raincoat, Erwin walked back inside of the house with mud all over his boots. We walked onto the mat, shook like a dog, and took off his boots neatly together where the other pairs of shoes were.

With water still dripping from the coat, he walked up the stairs that were past the kitchen at a mild pace trying not to slip.

At the top of the stairs only four doors were available, his room being the one straight down the middle. Midway he noticed that his father’s office door was open, so he decided to take a peek inside.

Lots of decorations on bookshelves were in the room and in one of the corners stood a computer desk with a very blocky computer on it. His father seemed to be so invested in it that he didn’t notice that he walked in.

On the computer was an article, but Erwin couldn’t seem to find the complete set of words for the title since his father was in the way. Erwin then decided to say something.

“Hey Papa!” Startled, the Sheriff quickly turned around.

“Oh hey champ, still muddy out there!”

“Yeah, there’s tons of mud puddles too that make really big splashes.” Erwin then mimicked his hands to show how big the splashes were.

On the screen Erwin could read: “Mysterious spaceships fall from sky!” Before Erwin could read any more the Sheriff then turned it off.

“Isn’t it your bed time?” The Sheriff asked.

“It’s only 6…”

“Seems reasonable enough, let’s head to bed.” The Sheriff then tucked him for bed, turned on his lava lamp, and closed the door behind him. Erwin being the curious boy he his, wanted to see the rest of that article, so he hatched a plan.

Around midnight, Erwin got out of bed and quietly went to the office. The door seemed to still have been opened so he went inside.

He crawled up onto the black turning chair and turned on the computer. What he saw astounded him.
