Everything Wrong & Everything Great About Arcane Odyssey

Whilst im known for being extremely critical of the game by many people I still believe there are a lot of good qualities in Arcane Odyssey and such, but its important to bring up the flaws that limit the game.

So taking inspiration from “Cinema Sins”

Lets do an “Everything GREAT” & “Everything WRONG” about the Arcane Universe.

You can discuss the lore and game

“So instead of helping the malnourished amnesiac you instead tell said amnesiac to kick rocks? Like I know you might be complete strangers and mourning and all but surely there’s more you can do than just tell him to go to some random town as if he would know what to- o-oh? Hold on… The town is being raided by pirates? Well uh… oops”

“How much of a peanut brain of a leader you must be to leave your own town completely undefended? Especially knowing the threat of plundering pirates that literally lives just next door to you? If I’m reincarnated as a genocidal maniac mage in the Arcane Universe then you know where exactly I’ll be paying the visit to…”

“‘I used my ACID magic carelessly and damaged the surrounding natural environment? Who’d had thought?’ Wow good job sherlock, did you not get the memo after the horrible diarrhea you had from eating that greenish sick looking fish of your own making? Seems that you’re not only a moron but a dangerous one to boot, attacking any random stranger that just stumbled on your little dwelling completely unprovoked. Why didn’t our peanut brain chieftain warn us that you’re dangerous crazy idiot? Did he forget? No way. He may be the dullest tool in the shed but surely he isn’t much of an idiot to… ohhe did forget uh… oops.”

When you go to the sky islands with your secretive and mysterious order on a top secret mission to kidnap the cloud curse user and get the location of the death curse from him…

So you stab him with a huge evil-looking sword which you leave in him as you and your friends disguised exactly like people who are on a secret mission drag him through the town…

After which you load him up onto a ship with your secret evil organization’s symbol on the sails and sail it straight towards the strongest fort of your kingdom…

And then you let your evil organization companions strut through the fort dressed up and acting like people who are above them, while you non-discreetly execute 30 civilians…

Sending random dude, who just happen to pass through to as envoy to country that is known to have issue with outsider, is disrespecting as hell. Skyhall treatment can still be understood as they are politically isolated, but north korea give better treatment to embassador than Lord Emerson did.

But that not the worst part. The worst part is they actually want to send our protagonist straight to the king. Random guy who appear out of nowhere, mentioning he have message for king, was escorted there immediately with zero screening. The only reason we don’t meet the king because he is busy. Thats it.

I’m reading all of this in the Charii5 voice, send help

“If there’s another person on this island, why didn’t he wake me up or at the very least drag me away from the shoreline?”

“Only a couple of dialogue options actually lead with the MC’s full name, so if we don’t take those, then realistically speaking, we should be nameless for most of the story.”

“Wait, so we took two rowboats to escape from being tortured before the story starts, but one of us died and we passed out? Did we pass out as soon as we made landfall? If not, how in the mother of Tartarus did Morden drag both boats to wherever we are?”

“So… you claim the MC is your friend, but you left them to sleep on the shore where they could very easily be washed away into the sea, on an island where they could very easily be murked by lightning no less, and THEN make them row on their lonesome to an island they can’t even remember the name of? If you didn’t give us our Relic before heading off, you would’ve been outed as a fraud almost immediately!”

“Also, why wasn’t our Relic taken from us while we were kidnapped? Surely that would’ve been something of interest, right?”

“OKAY, so Morden sent me to Redwake alone like an idiot and now I have to deal with more idiots leaving their entire island defenseless from the pirate faction next door? Did Hecate NOT give humanity the gift of forethought?!”

“Ignoring the story fallacies for a second… …Why should I invest my Stat Points into anything that isn’t Magic right away? Spirit doesn’t have a M1 and has to wait until Level 20 to get a supportive Rite, Weapons get their first three Skill Slots at Level 15, and Strength only gets its first Technique at the same time. The only stats that make it clear what they’re about are Spirit and Magic, but Magic’s progression is better in every way.”

“SO YOU KNEW THERE WERE PIRATES THREATENING THE ISLAND, WHY DID YOU LEAVE IT DEFENSELESS???”

“On top of that, you were out just recently, why didn’t you ask that hermit (who you know exists at the very least) about why your ships were melting on your way back to Redwake?”

i think morden believes you can defend yourself because as he said, you both are magic users destined for greatness, and he wouldn’t know the town was being raided by… lvl 1 pirates

i dont think alfarin knew about the jaw pirates though
