Expanded Magic Circle Customization Feature/Gamepass

Expanded Magic Circle Customization Feature/Gamepass

I’ve whined about the new magic circle system in another topic, but to summarize, I really do not like being stuck with low circle tiers as a hybrid. A lot of the really high tier circles are really cool, but are only accessible to mages with lost spells, or not at all. Basically every T1-T3 circle that exists is ugly and boring and hardly magical, and we’re just stuck with it for the next three centuries while they implement the story.

I propose a new feature, possibly tied to a gamepass or to each circle pack in some way, that allows the user to customize their magic circles to a greater extent.

The user could choose which circle tier or even circle pack they want to use on each individual spell or type of spell[1], as well as ultimate arts, on any of their magics.[2][3]

It could also be implemented in a simpler but more restrictive way that allows the user to simply favorite a tier[4] in a circle pack that they own to use it across the board, but I think allowing for some fancier circles on big spells and ultimate arts while keeping everything else consistent would be nice.

I would personally price it between 200 and 450 if it were to be a pass, possibly more or less depending on how much customization the user is given.

  1. base, rare, lost, ancient ↩︎

  2. All of this would also include magic M1, flaunting and werelight emotes, dodge reflexes, the circles that appear on your back when imbuing, and everywhere else that magic circles are used ↩︎

  3. arcanium weapon spells could be considered its own category of spells or could be based off of the circles chosen for the normal versions of those spells ↩︎

  4. little star button(s) next to the tier preview in the circle shop ↩︎

while it is a good idea since people will obviously want to use more of what they paid for, unfortunately vetex is probably never going to make it so you can change your visual tiers

it’s not a change to visual tiers to be clear, just the circles

a level 1 blast is still a level 1 blast with appropriate visuals even if they want to use a tier 9 circle with it

after this next update tiers are being removed and the only thing they’re going to do is change magic circle visuals

hybrids have significantly lower tier requirements so its not really a big issue mechanically speaking given that in the following update given that we’re getting 30 more statpoints (lvl190 cap)

as shown in the images below, a magic hybrid needs 78 less points for tier 4 which is a whole 39 levels less
and you can clearly see the gap grows bigger each tier.

I WILL HOWEVER, agree that i have heard a lot of people say the low tier circles are pretty bad looking which is moreso a cosmetic issue.

speculative math yap about tier 5 difference

basing this data upon the information known for the blast spell and the formulas given.

the initial difference of points is 26 for tier 2 and 39 for tier 3
dividing the points by 2 (you get 2 per level) makes 13 < 19.5 < 39 levels less for each tier then the mage

  • Tier 1, is obviously base req for everyone who uses a skill.
  • Tier 2; 26 point difference, 13 levels.
  • Tier 3; 39 point difference, 19.5 levels.
  • Tier 4; 78 point difference, 39 levels.

noticably, by doing some math you can figure out that each itteration has a multiplier that is 0.5x higher each time, also applicable to the levels given that is only a division based on the points
(level in brackets)

  • 26x1.5 = 39 (13x1.5 = 19.5)
  • 39x2 = 78 (19.5x2 = 39)

using the math of the increasing increment that is obtained, one can assume with a heavy grain of salt that tier 5 would be would be 78x2.5;

  • Tier 5; 195 point difference, 97.5 levels.

so in the long run, it shouldnt really be an issue
