Kind of hate to self plug here but if it helps in any way in my worldbuilding mud magic is kind of a crucial step to getting ceramic magic and then eventually specializing into things like terracotta magic or muse magic, along with every other weird earth based element/concept

the existence of “chump” magics adds character to the arcane universe, not every magic needs to be some god tier super powers yet underrated human flesh obliterator, its fine to have low tier, charismatic magics
and for paper and ink, they represent an evolution in both technology and magic from AA to WoM, they uniquely embody magius, the greatest setting in the AU

(Replace Ice Magic with it being “Cold Magic”. If it’s just frozen water, then it’s just water magic and I don’t consider it an actual magic. Same deal with any magic which could, plausibly, be within the domain of an existing magic, like Sand Magic, which is literally just crunched-up Earth Magic.)
