Feeling bittersweet about tgr (bit of a very long rant so strap in)

please read or at least skim before tryna argue about sum

Honestly wom being so different and so much more unique to AA meant that i personally had a lot of fun playing it because of the similar yet distant feel of the game.

I loved arcane adventures, it was a large part of my childhood, but the random quest system and spawning was so much fun and it felt like breathing fresh air for the first time in awhile. Along with the customisation made the game feels amazingly unique. Even if it could be a pain in the ass sometimes.

Spawning wherever you left was a much needed and very fun addition it made the game feel less like the simulator games where you just level up to go to new areas, (which AA never felt like either) and like a real open world rpg game, people of all levels live anywhere, there isn’t a progressive level based island system making it feel like an actual world instead of stronger people living on certain islands for no other reason then gameplay.

The fact you could kill/fight/save/destroy towns and npcs made you really feel like you had an impact on the world around you. This goes hand in hand with the amazing and extremely creative newspaper you recieve every couple in game days or so. That along with npcs must’ve been a pain the ass to implement and bug test, round of applause to vet for those.

Being able to go anywhere at any level made the game feel very open in the way you can explore whatever you want in whichever order you want, like a make your own adventure type thing, and I LOVE it, it really sucks we most likely will be losing big chunks of these features after tgr

AA was very different in that regard
It was very linear with a progression island system that i hated (especially when trying to get people into playing the game for the first time) the game forcefully had you moving from place to place depending on your level. Which made meeting friends such a chore. ESPECIALLY first timers. (this won’t effect me anymore as i already have my guild community and we’re going to all be leveling up with me, but it was painful in the first game)

Which is eh understandable as it was very story focused, but this system along with the constantly broken friend joining system was a terrible combo. though i’d much prefer some sort of system to only spawn you at a higer level island once you’ve actually found it by yourself more like a pokemon game.

While i do understand why these features need to go as they are very hard to build a game around, i’ll miss being able to see what the game used to be/could have been.

As vetex has said before developing a game this godamn immersive and as big as AA is too unrealistic. The development speed will probably slow to a crawl especially when it comes to areas including bosses and main story characters.

Making them all fightable, including movesets, bosses etc, and it’s the reason the game doesn’t start with a Theos like figure helping you which i missed a lot, it throws you in and says ok fuck around and go explore.

I seriously will miss the open world no island no ships walking simulator of a game this has been, while i understand it has faults and is a little buggy i still whole heartedly love it and i’ll be sad to see the world being replaced.

HOWEVER:-
I am EXTREMELY hyped for tgr, the idea of being a pirate captain type guildleader again has me very excited as you can tell by my character

I also can’t wait to play the new storyline as the current one is doodoo garbage and i hated it, only fun part was the boss fights and even they can get repetitive if there’s nothing else to do

anyway i wanna know what other people think of tgr from what we’ve seen, disagree? tell me why instead of just saying that you do

O wait nvm I thought it was jet from avatar the last airbender.

I think the revamp is good because the boats will have a better use. Though i take the revamp quite lightly.

yeah im defo excited about boats and stuff too canonballs are gonna be a lot of fun

sigh
not this shit again
cracks knuckles

i mean putting high levels and low levels together in an area usually… don’t have good results

…actually that’s all i see wrong with this post. the rest is just a personalized opinion :man_shrugging: you very clearly state that you just don’t enjoy the progression and story that AA had and that’s fine, though I do kind of doubt that AO will fail to please you once it’s here.

tbh the only thing i really hated was that it could change your spawn before you actually found that area yourself, i liked looking around and i just prefer the open style of wom

i still enjoyed exploring all the different islands and i was really into the story too it was a lot of fun to go through the first time especially going from island to island on ships was and still will be great

i guess i didn’t really explain what i meant that well, imo it feels more natural to have npcs (and players too i guess, but i mostly meant npcs like bandits) of any level chilling anywhere instead of their own designated areas that only high levels can go to without getting shredded,

but obviously that could fuck up gameplay and storyline progression so i guess there’s really no way around that without it being a ton of unnecessary work for no real reason
