Fleets have created a problem that’ll never be fixed even if prices are stable.
You require a Fleet if you want to utilize the auction and likely any future Drachma dumps, as they will be made with Fleets in mind.
I’d say it’s an issue, only in my opinion though.
Virtually every game I’ve experienced in the Arcane Universe[1] are innately built with exploration in mind, hence why islands aren’t immediately visible on file creation.
Fleets ruin this by allowing the player to get rewards without moving a single inch, sure, some could say the ship destroying/repairing for the Fleet takes a lot of time, but that’s technically a one-time task, you gather ships once and then you’re set for all the materials/Drachma you ever need, you can accelerate the Fleet gathering by getting more ships, but that’s moreso just nice to have than need to have.
Yes.
I’ve only used fish task because I wanted it levelled up, that’s it, I’ve had no reason otherwise to use it.
Yes.
Renown is basically the reputation of players, it should be relative to what they’ve done on the islands in the different seas, as a way of conveying their “actions”, making fleets give that makes renown makes little sense, as not only do we never see them, we never actually do anything as the captain of this grand fleet spanning multiple seas.
So, yes; It’s flawed.
I’d say so, I’ve not had a lick of reason to enter the Dark Sea after Fleets, there’s no rewards other than Dragonblood, I can get infinitely more Dark Sealed Chests from Fleets with no effort than The Far Reaches.
I have such a grudge that I’d say to get rid of it, but that of course can’t happen because then the market would crash and a lot of folk would get mad. Nerfing the rewards is blind-sighted too, nerfing something doesn’t stop it’s issue, it just alleviates it somewhat.
I’d say either remove some items from the fleet’s lootpool and/or create more items that only the player can get.
Take the average MMORPG;
You have to do a series of tasks to gather resources for new gear, that’s fine right? that’s the point of an RPG; gather resources, fight monsters, bla bla bla.
An example of a resource would be iron ore:
- Craft a picaxe capable of breaking iron ore.
- Adventure through the lands towards an iron ore deposit.
- Fend off enemies if there are any nearby said iron ore deposit.
- Manually mine said iron ore deposit.
- Teleport/Adventure back to spawn.
If you introduce an auto farmer into the mix, you’d of course see you’ve cleaved away all the steps to getting said resources.
An example of an auto farmer in the same scenario involving iron ore:
- Gather workers for said auto farmer.
- Profit.
That’s it.
There’s nothing more to it, it’s a two step process where the first step is permanent for it to become a one step process where you do nothing but collect the resources.
It’s silly.
