i heard someone say that blast is a mage’s main spell, but i cant hit anyone with it (take note im using magma x-slash)
most of the time, i used placed explosions but there was this one mage in which i had to use blasts more often against
i wouldnt call explosions the main spell because the cd is long
also stop missing your blasts
miss as in i cant predict
its also hard because MAGMA IS SLOW (you might have to play semi-rushdown)

I feel like blasts are just pretty classic, plus they do the most damage.
i learned to use placed explosions as pseudo-blasts or pseudo-beams

I don’t know why I clicked explosion. I like using spikeball light magic blasts 
spikeball is insane ngl especially for faster magics
You might have to consider running some attack speed, it really makes a difference for blasts
i fought a magma x-slash guy, shit destroyed me until i started parrying and using grabs
im unsure if i can, here’s my equipment (all lvl 120 strong enchant)
argos helmet (for better aura)
arcsphere
fair strong power amulet
calvus chestplate (could replace)
sunken boots (wont replace with cernyx because this has higher defense)
Sounds like you might want to change out some of the enchants for whatever enchant attack speed was (It was swift)
or should i just run shadow mage?
because magma struggles with a mage’s main attack…

Go with whatever you want to play with :^)
If you like playing slow then you could use explosions and pulsars to have area control and stuff. Magma for sure can leave some damage with it’s puddles and DOT.
If you like playing fast, you could instead you could rush up and use blasts for damage. Maybe even pressure them continuously with a blast and beam combo.

You could try staying at range and predicting where they will go with your blasts. If you plan on doing this, use snares or self pillars to punish people who rush you

Fraid I can’t exactly tell you that since that’s up to your personal tastes
I haven’t really used a mage that much with a slower magic, you may want some attack speed. Carina’s gear has some attack speed, though you also sacrifice your attack size. But magma seems to have some good size already judging from the wiki.
