“Former” for fame/bounty boards (“Former Guardian of the Sea” and “Former Demon”, for example)
“Retired” for Grand Navy/Assassin Syndicate boards (“Retired Navy Admiral” or “Retired Assassin Architect”, for example)
Specifics
Gives players that used to be on the leaderboard, but aren’t anymore, titles to denote their past glory. This would likely work by tracking the achievements tied to getting a specific leaderboard position (similar to how generations work), and then simply automatically checking to see if the person’s fame is lower than the lowest person on that leaderboard position. If it’s lower, they get the title. The color of these titles would probably revolve around the color of the leaderboard position they are based on. It could be lighter than the original, darker than the original, etc.
Additionally, this is an equipable title, rather than a default one like the actual leaderboard titles.
Reasoning
This would allow people who want the leaderboard titles but don’t enjoy the pressure of the leaderboard to maintain their bragging rights. It also has similar usefulness to people who used to be on the leaderboard but went away from the game for a while or people who fell behind after a renown wipe.
Additionally, there’s a certain coolness factor in “former” or “retired” titles that the normal titles just lack.
considering how easily the leaderboard is compromised, idk how i feel about this. a permanent super flashy title just cuz you bug abused after one update isnt the best idea
Agreed; there’d have to be title wipes every so often if more renown bugs happen, which would be infuriating if you got there legitimately. Imagine working to get a title only for some bug hunter to glitch renown and cause a wipe, rendering everything you did obsolete.
Only way I could see that being prevented is if the version number that you obtained the title on was kept track of.
As of the next update, renown wipes will be less needed.
If someone finds a way to get infinite renown again, they’ll be caught and wiped/banned without being able to spread it very easily.
The only way it can spread is if they announce which server its doable in / how to do it, and in that case, staff will find out.
