The arena was a decently large field out the back of Odysseus Academy, although ‘field’ was a bit of a compliment. The barely-alive patch of grass was scattered with a few stones or whatever, put there years ago by somebody doing something, whatever their intention.
“The rules are simple,” he continued, “There will be sixteen rounds. You must fight until your opponent submits to you due to either mental or physical exhaustion. You may not injure anybody permanently or cause significant threat to their life. We have a healer by our side.
My friend Kulvir Makarov will be overseeing the fights. He may stop them at any point. If anybody causes a threat to another person’s life, he will ensure that they do not get any further than that. A threat. You do not want to face him. Martyn will tell us if anybody is at any point in danger. Do we all understand?”
