What I assume they’re saying is violently hating on homophobes is the same as violently hating on LGBT people, but if someone oversteps and goes out of their way to hate I think that’s absolutely deserved.

That’s called resocialization, and it’s already a thing. It’s about getting them back on the right path using the power of psychology, not forcing them. Some people can be resocialized, while others can’t, and it’s due to the freedom we have, no one can decide for us, besides ourselves.
For some people, being gay is immoral, and what can we do about it? You hate homophobes, and that brings us back to my thesis about no one winning this. It’s a war that only ruins relationships, with no gain. It’s either both sides agreeing or the war continuing. Sides will never agree.

I was a homophobe, and really, it was just the matter of me understanding, no one else changed my mind. At some point I just contemplated about this, and concluded that it’s all pointless, a clash of faiths that negate eachother. I am a Christian, but I believe in the words that everyone bears their own cross, go ahead, do what you want.

That is unfortunately the problem, only the person themselves can make a decision. But nudging someone in the right direction would help.
That’s… also kind of why we should stop this argument right now, because as you said, this is going to get nowhere. We’re humans and I am not a professional, but from what I can see we’re prone towards generalisation.
