The difference between something like cigarettes and something like cocaine is that cocaine is HEAVILY frowned upon. Even if it was legalised barely anyone would really want to sell it because it’s expensive, people wouldn’t buy it and shops selling cocaine (and their customers) would be mocked and looked down upon. Also anything you did under the influence of cocaine wouldn’t be a victimless crime so there’d still be punishments for it.
Cocaine is only more heavily frowned upon because it’s illegal
Believe me smokers and drunkards get dirty looks here (rightfully so) even if their drug of choice is legal
Cocaine is much harder of a drug than tobacco, it makes you completely unaware of your surroundings, so you tweak REALLY hard in public and start doing reckless stuff to everything around you. That’s not something people would be okay with even if it was legal. Also look at something like chronic gooning, it’s legal but massively frowned upon.
one thing though is that smoking doesn’t just affect you, it affects the people around you too. other substances like alcohol can make you do things to people, but just the act of consuming it won’t harm anyone other than yourself, unlike cigarettes
It’s expensive because it’s illegal, coca isn’t that hard to grow
Assuming a ban remained in place long enough so would nicotine
Where you should be allowed to smoke is dependant on who owns the property you’re doing it on. If a building that belongs to someone else allows or disallows smoking, you gotta respect that. Same thing if you live in a city, the borough that maintains building the streets should be able to allow or prohibit it. I’m assuming you’re talking about passive smoke, which would cause most places to naturally ban it anyways. I just don’t think it should be forced by the government.
As opposed to alcohol intoxication, which gives you the sudden urge to start a book club in which you discuss the works of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky in order to culturally elevate your community.

Fair
Making something illegal doesn’t automatically make it frowned upon, nobody gaf if you want to spray paint on public bridges or pirate media and that’s been illegal for a while.
Alcohol’s effects aren’t nearly as bad, it’s much easier to control your behaviour while intoxicated and a much larger dose is needed. Alcohol has other uses besides getting drunk, like cooking.
I didn’t say they weren’t.
I’m not saying you said they weren’t either
i would not respect someone just expelling cancer causing smoke right next me even if a building allowed it. i find it disrespectful for them to put my own health at risk because of their actions, same as being hit or something
And marijuana has medicinal purposes. Doesn’t change the fact it’s marijuana.
I wouldn’t like it either, but it’s not really the smoker’s problem if you’re in a building that explicitly allows it.
You have to get it prescribed specifically from a pharmacist if it’s for medical purposes. Also one smoke of marijuana does not make you start acting like Ormolu in public.
Cocaine, to my knowledge, isn’t usually consumed in public, unlike alcohol. Guess which of the two are also more prominent in crimes.
Cocaine is when you account for per capita. Also cocaine is not (usually, although it does actually happen in public areas) consumed in public because of the social stigma around it.
Dud you’ve gotta specify if you’re talking recreational or medicinal
Same lowk
what if everyone you know and love is included in that 1/4 ?
the webcomic gave that man way too much aura
