Something I noticed the first time you do Fort Castrum; everybody has a name. You can see it in the chat every time you kill someone. All of a sudden, mowing down mooks there has gone from awesome to disturbing…

they are soldiers in ravenna’s military, they know what they signed up for

youve vowed your life to serve and protect a fortress, doing so succesfully for years on end
your parents have been there, your grandparents have been there, even your child is going to serve there someday
then, disaster strikes
a fleet of reinforced brigs appear on the horizon, youve never seen them before, yet the only thing they know is hostility
they besiege your fortress
you sink a few, but they come back
they always come back
you cannot win from an endless army
the defenses fell
forces have been mobilized
you succesfully fight them off, thats great… right?
theyre back, again.
every time you kill someone, they come back stronger.
armed with new information, they relentelessly slaugther through the army
everyone you once knew falls
friends, family, even your loved ones
You recieve reinforcements every now and then, but that doesn’t satiate your opponements’ bloodlust.
In the end, it’s just you.
Attack after attack, death after death.
You’ve killed hundreds of them at this point, but they keep coming back.
You tire out, slowly but surely they wittle you down.
The people you’ve killed, it kind of looks like those you murdered just a moment ago.
You’re tired.
Energy and Stamina, all depleted.
You look at your enemy one last time. The sun shining radiantly behind their head.
You close your eyes as they aim their flintlock at you…
Oh hey the fortress’ defenses have recovered lol time to destroy them, their ships and the 234956264 items in their ship storage.

We aren’t part of the thorne empire they don’t actually have any reason to fight us
You do realize that we marked Calvus’ grave, right? We can’t enter Ravenna without a disguise to avoid problems.
