TL;DR
Topic of the day in balance cord about ship combat, and TU feature about “you cant board ship untill it is sunk” was brought up, after which Laetes said about ability to use skills without us doing the loony-tunes fall, meaning we will stay on board, similar with m1s.
But apperently, for vetex, that is useless.
From the author of: “Hecate is supposed to be miserable”
Hecate essence is miserable, and while it makes logical sense lore-wise, every other stat build gets to switch willy-nilly; meanwhile Mages have to go through the War Seas equivalent of the Vietnam War just to switch their first Magic.
A little over 1/4th of all Base Magics don’t work underwater, when the majority of the map is water, there are incentives to dive into the ocean, and you will be fighting enemies on ships from time to time. This is remedied by an optional quest to “waterproof” your spells, probably for lore reasons.
Now ship combat won’t get this change which would make it one hell of a lot more fun because… uh, actually, no lore reason this time.
Granted, the last one isn’t atrocious compared to the other two, but sometimes it feels like telling American drywall to not break whenever it gets punched. There are prevalent design issues and that one annoying thing with ship combat, but they’re marked as “fine” and left untouched.
I hate this feature, the game is about big dragon ball z magic pirates that can nuke islands yet for some reason ship combat with cannons is a thing that exists outside of maybe lv 20.
I do not care for this feature, it doesnt make sense how my ult explosion deals 30 dmg to a ship, its so forced
