Game Feel, Issues and complains?

lag and ping, the game in general feels unresponsive

To be honest, I hate how some of the mods treat the players. I have seen one of them just talk about wanting to kill a player irl just because they got ganked, then the rest of the mod team kept making fun of and saying rude things to said player. These people are 20+, they CAN’T be acting like this to teenagers online bro.

Vetex said he ignores questions if he doesn’t know, or they are stupid questions, sometimes he does just not see a question though

Or it’s spoilers (obviously)

parrying is ridiculous because everything is so unsynced

That’s like 99% of the balance team’s messages (the 1% being announcements or when they rarely talk on the forums). There’s a not-so-fine line between being funny and being a manchild.

It’s the main reason why I don’t want to make any suggestions in balancecord. Why can only mods add X reactions to suggestions? Some suggestions are pretty bad, but you don’t have to encourage dogpiling on the poor guy.

I don’t know anything about the vetcord mods, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

it’s so stupid it’s hilarious :sob:

cry baby ah post

i am straight up not doing pvp until they add rollback (which is never happening)

i don’t hate it though

mini-rant on game PVE and PVP

at this point I’m confused what Vetex wants to do with the whole pve and pvp side of the game.

Currently AO is still considered primarily a PVE focused game but it does a terrible job at that, essentially the game is designed in a way that unless new content is added its inherently useless to continue doing the same PVE activities.

I understand that its very difficult to drop a dark sea level update now and then but you can’t just design your game around certain mechanics and make it so that they eventually become entirely useless until a major update drops and that major updates by chance happens to use the same chest pools.

PVE needs to boost engagement by adding items faster that aren’t just “selected vanity” people are tried of vanity cuz most of them either suck or just don’t work with anything + that isn’t enough content for it to be justified to make me go do the dark sea for another year

AO needs to add actual items of interest like spells/techs and spirit weapons/weapons faster, Judging from the recent Additions it seems spirits got more content and that’s honestly amazing, but these additions taking more then 2 months is long enough for people to just leave with 0 expectations.

Because not only do people literally get the jist of the new skills pretty quick from the leaks its also nothing interesting when magics and such essentially only work as reskins with different stats with very less room for new mechanics or combinations

Either interesting mechanics need to be developed (like using more terrain effects or status combos) or more spells and techs must be added quicker to keep engagement

Despite being difficult to add consistently it’s pretty much one of the only few ways the game can be kept alive without having to push a dark sea level update every single time

And pvp?

PvP at the start was actually fun despite it’s issues, PvP also kept the game alive for a majority of it’s beginnings, the fall of AO started with PvP getting less and less attention

I get that vetex’s recent (months ago) rants were towards “toxic doom posters” but telling us “the game will never get PVP focused updates” is just telling us that “I do not care about the part of my community that gives my game the most engagement”

Didn’t Vetex tell us that the reason AO even has Multi player is cuz it would die otherwise? How could you openly use that community for the benefit but deny them any sort of focused content and that too in a very open fashion?

It’s really important that the Dev team consider PVP of some importance as well, cuz it’s clear that its been carrying the game for a long time and losing the remaining few people that still have faith in the game is just asking for disaster

Not saying that the story sucks or people don’t play the game for the story and PVE, its just that capitalizing on the pvp community in a healthy way would be in the best interests of the Devs and the players and would probably be an easier method to keep engagement then relying on longer 4+ month updates with huge pve content that either turn out to become ignorable or disappointing

Despite most of this it’s clear that balancing is taken a bit more seriously then before and the game feels a lot better compared to months ago, I’m not sure how exactly the Dev team can bring back the community AO had a while ago but we really do need some change to things to keep things running

(a lot of dumbshit and i probably said some hypocritical or nonsense sentences just correct me if i was wrong and i’ll edit it)

Whatever this take is supposed to mean

Response to this balance change btw

Please don’t tell me i need to explain this one…

vetex doesnt play his own game

thermo fist. need i say more?

Only if you want people other than mind readers to know what you think is wrong with thermo fist.

i really dislike the way it’s implemented. it has the potential to be one of the coolest fighting styles out there but it really doesn’t live up to that. it has a similar gimmick to sailor fist, that being a bar that boosts your moves, but it just feels much worse to use. when at max heat bar it’s decent, but it really sucks without it. this would be fine if it were easier to get heat bar (like maybe a passive gain if you’re overheating or something) but right now it’s more of an annoyance

that would be such a good change, for instance, my current rates of catching legendary fish is 1 in 675, if that change was applied i’d have a 1 in 450 chance of catching any legendary fish (which is really good)!!

This type of shit annoys the hell out of me. “Oh yeah, let’s limit the player’s drip because of worldbuilding stuff I make up on the spot!!”
Unbelievable

Dirt and tanning feature, “immersive” feature that ruins immersion

Probably a huge factor to bad game experience and indirect reasons for players leaving

Despite most people complaining about it being a “Waste of time addition” it’s issues weren’t about dev taken time at all

Dirt mechanic was a horrendous addition that makes it so that you go from MC of cool story to dirty hobo in a matter of 5 mins

image

How is it immersive if its entirely just annoying and unnecessary? it also doesn’t help that i need to bath like three times to actually clean everything off

and if I’m correct this shitty feature saves and applies even after you rejoin (not 100% on this)

it’s also annoying that the feature is still terrible even if it was added for the sake of realism, it looks weird on the character mesh and you can clearly see the square cut off of the overlay image on the character’s face

Tanning isn’t a huge issue imo, but if people make a pale character then they want to play as a pale character, It’s also stupid that this effect can’t be mitigated by wearing a straw hat or any vanity item, i need to go drink a particular food item to solve a problem added to be a problem for no good reason

Features like this ruin the immersion and constantly distract me from what i actually wanna do in the game and keeping said features will constantly work as a multiplier effect in ruining player immersion and causing them to leave

(images taken from google search, I didn’t wanna play like a pig and get dirty to screenshot myself)

what, how did you get that from google search that’s my character lmao
oh my god :sob:

but yeah I completely agree it’s a very useless immersion feature that absolutely NOBODY ever asked for

exactly what i wanted…

The feature was a diss from vetex he said " yall mfs need to shower" lmao

that’s kind of childish
