No more bobux for Mr. Vetex
what happens when you spend the first 4 months of your game’s lifecycle adding cute side additions like potions or underwater chests instead of immediately getting to work on replayability
now that I think about it the only updates that will give us shit to do beyond a 15min story chapter will be the dark sea and empires
It’s still in early pre alpha and vetex is a solo dev!1!
This is what months of no updates does to a game
Game is in alpha still and Vetex is pretty much a solo dev, you definitely have a good point but I would say he does more than enough for a game that is in alpha by making it free and actually keeping us updated and sometimes even staying in touch with the community as you can see, this forum for example.
Maybe it’s just another one of those cases where people are busy with school or with their job lol.
School basically just started up again so obviously people are gonna be busy with that. Over the weekend the game had like 2k players at one point so its not dead
really bido
People still calling vetex a solo dev when he has a paid team of modellers and builders whose progress is tracked on the trello is beyond me
They dont know what a solo dev actually means
Fun game development fact (that nobody on roblox gives a single cent about)!!!
One is to elaborate on gameplay before content under the form of prototypes.
What AO lacks is in the gameplay department, meaning that the very first step of active game development was skipped in order to immediately get results under the form of content.
Also, Arcane Odyssey isn't in alpha, it's in early access.
Guess what other games were in early access all while having a defined gameplay loop?
Risk of Rain 2, which is one of the industry’s best roguelites.
Library of Ruina, a game that spanned a cult-like following.
And because I lack video game culture, I’m now going to talk about games that are currently in early access and are still solid.
Lethal Company, that broke the internet.
Valheim, is an insane game just by itself.
And what did all of these games do? They prototyped, found a good gameplay loop, elaborated content and story based on it for enhanced immersion, and pushed out a successful game after enough marketting.
Saying “It’s fine because it’s in beta/alpha/early access!” is only an argument that supports mediocrity, and on the chance that you say “It’s good enough for roblox!” or “The roblox engine can’t support good games!” then I beg you to differ as that is just plain wrong.
Of course however, don’t get me wrong; Arcane Odyssey is an okay game, but that’s all it is. It does have things that makes it stand out like its magic/class system or even its ship customisation and models, but that’s only a minor amount of all of the features that it offers.
“AO fell off hard” says the AO forumer on the AO forums
Died off very quickly though, plus got old quick
Good game but building was the only feature that really kept me intrigued
I am convinced the doom posters just do it for attention or to rage bait (for attention)
The definition of early access remains intact, I don’t see how the existence of better early access games makes this not so
we have fused with the forums, we are you and you are us
we are one and one is many
Wtf!!!
yeah vro we all live in each others walls!!
We just gonna ignore the insane difference between the all time peak and right now lol
