Main gameplay isn’t even good either. The story is more dry than bacon, exploration hardly feels rewarding. The game only floats because of Pokémon’s enormous following.

And even with the good designs from gen 9 like ceruledge/armarogue or skeledirge, kingambit and the cuter designs from cetoddle and fuecoco can’t compete with the past awesome designs. Namely, Ferrothorn, heatran, almost every psuedo legendary, and for the cuter ones joltik, goodra and dragonite.

Baxcalibur seriously looks so ugly when you compare it to the other psuedo dragons. Dragapult looks eons better despite being from the last generation, and we still have good ol’ Garchomp there as a pretty good design. Also, Kommo-o looks good honestly.

wtf are you talking about? gen 9’s pokemon design is peak, as always. I think literally the only pokemon people dont like are toedscruel, maybe cetitan, and MAAAAYYBEEE the quaquaval line. Everything else is extremely popular with the fanbase

I disagree. Exploring gives you good items, including powerful tms, evolution stones, rare candies, or just valuables. It also helps you find powerful wild tera pokemon. The stories are fine. You’re not playing pokemon for the story, you never have. It’s the best one that pokemon has ever had, but at the end of the day pokemon is about the pokemon, not the lore.

x/y was charming but unfinished
i think it would definitely be more remembered if there was a 3rd game like Platinum to D/P which fixed a bunch of the gameplay problems and pretty much perfected the pokemon formula
D/P is mid but Platinum is peak especially with all the new features that were added and X/Y would have some crazy potential with a 3rd version

X/Y is such a glorious classic, I love it so much.
Sure, it’s a bit aged, and the dancing guy and the ginger who was dedicated to finhsing the pokedex are both flat as fuck and forgettable as fuck… But it’s still really nice.
So glad X was my first Pokemon game.

you’ve been awful quiet about the fact that Sun/Moon do everything (except nebby) better mmm, but while i agree that people haedly play the games for the lore, the fact that you’re even bringing that point up implies that you’re don’t feel very confident in supporting this claim anyway since

most really are tho, with the stand out examples that lettuce mentioned being in the exception over the rule, but that is honestly more easily attributed to the exhaustion of creative originality for many of the archetypes that mons fill

X and Y remakes with a fully revamped story and pacing would be fire. I’ve not played Gen 5 but I’ve heard good things. USUM are always going to be my favourites as they managed to get:

• Story
• Character customisation
• Good Pokémon designs
• So so many features like the whole space thing to get legendaries or the surfing
• The title music.
• Difficulty (sorry 11 year old me)
• Both Z crystals and Mega Evolution
• Rockruff
