No content means much replayability.
idk why people hate the permadeath mechanic so much, the PvE gets baby easy once you get a bit of experience, the depths are basically a joke to escape, the only time you will ever wipe as an experienced player is due to getting jumped (which is very avoidable btw), or getting overwhelmed, and you really donāt loose shit when you die in the overworld, especially after newer updates making it so you canāt drop enchants and legendaries on death
Most people wont even really go for the kill when they see you, especially not a high level unless they feel like an ass which is unavoidable, but a good chunk of the time you get ganked its from a voidwalker which will almost be equal to your level and at that point it comes down to skill
You really donāt play for like 10 hours and expect the game to hand you everything on a platter, the satisfaction is in getting better not just getting an omega powerful curved crypt hero duke demon mythical sword
I could go on a tangent why the permadeath is really not that bad and why it makes the game more engaging but you should probably get the point by now
fac
Overly ping-dependent, but I meanā¦
If you only wanna unlock the goods you can keep after wiping and goof off, and not take the PVE or PVP too seriously, itās actually kinda neat.
That being said, itās not for someone who enjoys high-speed combat. Deepwoken is punish-game chess, not AO or Ultrakill.
The loreās also a bit clunky, but theyāre cleaning it up extremely well now, and the non-combat stuff is extremely good.
Again, itās at its best when you arenāt minmaxing or taking it too seriously; enjoy getting all of the unlockable starter weapons, or Ironsing, and not getting one easily-lost legendary weapon everybody ogles over, or the best PVP build.
Unlock Voidwalker and fuck with random players when you have no fucking clue what youāre doing; that shitās FUNNY.
Personally tried it, what got me off it is mostly the fact that my pc kinda struggles with it, also AO coming out. The biggest problem for me is the fact that thereās permadeath pvp honestly, but apparently other people here say the community has gotten better at not killing low levels so.
Also, as a new player, no, it was not easy to get out of the depths, pretty sure I never managed to get out even once, but I also probably got close to the exit in some runs (also please tell me the lore isnāt just in the discord now, that might make it interesting to come back in the future)
i like parrying
game progression is nice
good UI
funny moments
easy to learn stuff
also idk why people are saying it slows when AO combat has you stopping in the air 500 times
i played it for like an hour then left
it looks pretty good and it seems like a fun game but the whole permadeath thing isnāt for me
The game would be really fun if the starting area didnāt have 3 NPCās that all attack you at once, sending you to the depths.
iām thinking if i should return to deep, only returning for pvp
The game is neat, but the hyperfocus on pvp-based content, a community full of hyper sweats, and permadeath is a real turnoff for me
thatās the neat part, iām a minmaxer so deep definitely isnt for me
i always want the perfect best pvp build and iād never play a game without minmaxing
i like that since i really like pvp
because its pointless and adds massive unavoidable stakes to every encounter while adding absolutely nothing of value to the actual game.
it makes the game stop being fun, makes me feel like an ass for wanting to pvp, and makes me constantly feel like I have to check over my shoulder.
I play games to have fun, not to ruin other peopleās fun, much less need to worry about losing hours to days of progress because Iām not constantly checking behind me and preparing for unexpected PvP encounters.
encountering random players and not knowing what theyāre going to do is the most fun part of any game like this, deepwoken ruins it by adding useless tension and stress.
sucks too because deepwoken would have been the best of them.
Cool until you realise the combat is everything and takes all the fun away from the game, you can use your strongest attack that you have been grinding for centuries just to use it, only for it to be parried like any other attack.
Never played it but heard its good
Then that simply means it isnāt your type of game, that doesnāt make it a bad system
I mean if a game fails to be fun or actively requires you to make the game less fun for other players in order to have fun its shit regardless of how good it looks.
the mark of a truly good PvP oriented game is when youāre having fun regardless of if you win or lose, deepwoken does not have this mark and does everything in its power to get as far away from it as possible.
Its immensely fun with friends but me and my friends have reached the point where we essentially have no more feasible time to play Deepwoken. Just having chats whilst playing or struggling through the game was a really damn nice experience. Like losing hours of progress within minutes is not a good use of time now that all of us have work.
Basically, its good but it takes up far too much time.
pve progression is a thing !!!
