Give me your ao headcanons

The Philosopher’s Stone existed before the fall of Olympus and became the basis for what the sea curses are, but with restrictions.

  1. Restricted Transmutation - The absorption of a sea curse completely restructures the body on a fundamental degree, turning physical matter of a sentient creature into magic energy (which is functionally a separate substance than matter). This also causes the the curse user to become an seemingly infinite wellspring of magic at what seems to be no cost (I don’t recall curse users needing to eat, drink, or sleep to stay alive, so maybe the curse is using either small portions of he soul of the curse user (long shot) or the spirit energy of the curse user, which is probably deeply intertwined with the magic energy of a curse (reasonable), the exchange rate of soul/spirit energy to magic energy is probably high enough for it to seem infinite)
  2. Question of creation and greater infinities - It’s stated that the blast Acheron whiffed costed him multiple curses, removing them from his arsenal. So the only feasible way to fire an infinity at someone, is to have an output that’s a greater infinity. But the act of using the entirety of a curse in a spell probably has a long term impact depending on the intent of the spell.
  3. Consequences of removal - There are a plethora of consequences of having a curse. Immortality, a change in emotion, and the replacement of their original body. The last consequence stated probably has the most significance, as it brings in the question of what happens to the spirit energy of a curse user. From what it seems, spirit energy defines what is and isn’t living. Seeing that the body of curse users are comprised of magic energy which replaced the original matter, this process is likely to replace or displace the spirit energy to create a mimicry of what the curse user’s original body is, technically classifying them, as not living creatures, more akin to elementals from general fantasy media. This creates a dire problem when the curse is removed from a curse user. We from state Beringer is in when we meet him face to face, he is no longer made of magic energy, and is rapidly deteriorating. If the spirit energy is exchanged or displaced for magic energy in a curse user, than the magic energy of an ex-curse user would attempt the functions of spirit energy on matter, which would diminish magic energy over time as it attempts to keep the body alive without the healing properties of spirit energy. This would give an ex-curse user some time before their the wound from the curse extraction causes their death. In the case that magic or potions are used to heal their wounds while an ex-curse user is still “alive” after extraction, the magic energy demand would be steeper as a portion of the magic energy that’s absorbed is automatically repurposed to keeping the ex-curse user alive. If successfully healed, the ex-curse user would likely be unable to use magic energy as it’s constantly being used as a form of life support, which also drastically slows down aging. Due to the constant drain of magic energy, ex-curse user would need an external source of magic to continue remaining “alive”. If they were to ever run out of magic energy, they would begin to rapidly age into dust. The only way to break this cycle is either by staying alive long enough for the spirit energy of the ex-curse user to regenerate/reconstitute or the use of a relic.
  4. Death by overexertion and the aftermath - Normally, magic users when they expend all their magic energy, they become fatigued and are unable to cast magic for a period of time. But this is a fundamentally different situation for curse users as they are comprised of the magic energy they use when casting. So somehow, if curse user manages to have an output that’s a higher infinity than the generation of magic energy, they would effectively be turning their entire being into a spell, and by their intent, temporarily turning a curse into a different spell. This obviously would cause the death of the curse user, leaving no remains, but what would happen to the curse would vary based on what happened. Regardless of what happened to curse, the curse will eventually reconstitute slowly over time as the magic energy of the curse would reject other types of magic (except for raw magic energy) and attract the fragments of the curse’s magic energy because of the permanent purpose imbued into the magic energy of curses by Prometheus.

Anyways here are some extras (or things that aren’t explicitly stated)

  • Philosopher stones can convert matter into magic energy and vice versa, technically making them the perfect counter measure against curse users when affixed to weapons with the intent of turning magic energy into what ever it’s mimicking
  • Mutations can be prevented or controlled with enough proficiency in spirit energy, potentially preventing insanity
  • The process of becoming an Atlantean eventually squeezes the soul out of the body, effectively making them a souless husk
  • The Order of the Aesir are trying to find a way to take/forcefully use the power of legacies to creating something with godlike power (maybe a machine god like the Numidium, or just transfering the power to obtain an authority over something)
  • The blast that caused the Fracture was an intentional counter measure (incase Acheron missed). the blast wiped out a majority of humanity, providing ample material for dead revival magic, and created the dark sea, which is the perfect deterrent and hinderance towards humanity
  • The Dark sea is actually a zone “spell” and most of the things that happens inside it is intentional
  • The ingredients to make ambrosia can be found in the dark sea, and depending on the quality and accuracy, it can temporarily or permanently grants the ability to use a small amount of spirit energy
  • Dark sea travel is commonly done in collaboration with kingdoms
  • The gods took on various forms in the past which humanity built various depictions on, causing different religions and pantheons to exist up until the fall of Olympus which revealed that they were all the same few gods, explaining why different cultures just use the greek names
  • If enough spirit energy is imbued into an object, it will gain sentience (magic objects included)

Things I think have a possibility of being true:

  • Queen Can’tremembername and Prince Lucian of Skyhall are Order agents. The Order’s stake in this is to keep access to Skyhall under control, and to get access to Skyhall’s unique resources and magical knowledge. The Queen secures her heir’s place on the throne, keeps the status quo under her thumb, and gets some powerful allies among the sea urchins.

  • Allanon isn’t dead, he got fished up by an Order agent waiting seaside, and next time we see him is when we get to find out just what the Order is doing with legacies, if you catch my meaning. He’s going to be experimented on, and it’s not going to be pretty.

  • The General Morden said to be careful about is an Order agent, but he’s still staunchly Sameria first. If he gets orders against us, he’ll let us slip the net, let us know about the scheme. The Order would ruin Sameria if it benefited them to do so, therefore it’s better to keep true allies of Sameria (us) strong, and keep the Order in check by putting the enemies of the Order that are allies of Sameria in the way, as long as it’s not going to lead back to him.

  • There’s currently no High Lord of the Order for the Nimbus Sea (I don’t even remember if there’s supposed to be one per sea specifically). Queen What’shername and some other Baron (probably not the Samerian General) are trying to get that position, and the Queen’s going to win thanks to securing a shiny new Skyhall for the Order.

  • Julian was not an Order agent during the Ravenna part of the story, but has been recruited since then. His thought process for joining them: This “Order” was good for Ravenna before Cavlus got got, so why not keep it going? And if he has this Order’s backing, he may be even better off than he was as just a General. Revon’s weak, a naive crybaby, perhaps his new benefactors will see fit to replace him as ruler of Ravenna, and the reign of Julian will begin!

  • Revon got the Cloud Curse after he became King by way of the Order trying to re-establish order in the Bronze Sea, went rogue, and will return with the Cloud Curse to try and kill us, but he won’t be particularly difficult to defeat in a fight. This will be because of a mix of lack of skill, lack of drive to throw out powerful attacks (there’s a difference between lashing out to try and kill someone and having a singular focus to try and kill someone), lack of experience with throwing out that much power, and perhaps the Cloud Curse’s previous user giving his two drachma.

  • Neviro got snatched up by the Order, and we’re going to have to go save him.

Things I think would be funny/interesting but I doubt they’d happen:

  • Neviro got snatched up by the Order, and we’re going to have to go save him, but Shura already got him out of Order Jail.
  • Julian will show up at the post-Keraxe War celebration in Sameria, but he’ll be friendly, and will greet us with “I’ve finally found you!” as a call back to when he bumped into us at Ravenna. It’s probably not legitimate friendliness, and he probably wants to kill Morden still.
  • Revon, after failing to kill us, will team up with Wotan to train and become a problem for the player character. Wotan wants payback because we whacked one of his sons.
  • Revon whacks Julian with a Devourer, and picks up Glass and Cloud at the same time to get the Glass-Cloud Supercurse. This fight would be harder because of deadly bleed clouds, but once you learn how to deal with that mechanic, it’s easy (in other words, it’d be complained about being the most unfair fight in the game because people can’t adjust).
  • Revon doesn’t go on the war path, and instead turns to writing, penning a play of fiction based on a true story, about the greatest villain Ravenna has ever known, and how the King of Ravenna overcame this foul menace:
    • How {playername} Stole Yuletide

    • December 2026

    • The quest line is helping prepare for and participating in the play as the main villain

    • The end of event boss is Saint Revon and the Ghosts of Ravenna Past. They’re supposed to win, but the player goes off script.

Silas’s main weapons are the sunken sword, dagger and a flintlock, his fighting style is sailor fist.

Go ahead, my headcanons are for the common use.

ravenna are basically turkey

  1. Empress Nilah will soon find out we were the ones behind the death of King Calvus and feel very torn (depends on if she knows he’s Aesir), but maybe her reaction might depend on the dialogue we made throughout the story
  2. There is at least 1 dragon that’s a curse user
  3. Queen Veronica and Prince Lucian are Aesir members

MC will mutate from lightning to aether lightning magic at some point

sounds cool but id feel canonicaly it would be a spirit mutation so id see his lightning mutating into something else

An addition I thought of - the Queen, if she is an Order agent, might be working with them because people seeking power already plundered Skyhall, so she might see working with a new group eyeing Skyhall as the lesser of two evils, compared to them just showing up one day and taking what they want all over again.

King Admiral has a supercurse

it would be cool if we could fight a supercurse user

By fight you mean inventing the cheesiest of the cheeses to cheese them because I am NOT fighting a supercurse user

disregarding the main post topic to rant a bit

I fucking DESPISE when something is getting added to a game because it “sounds cool”, i don’t care if it sounds cool, it’s a fucking FEVER DREAM to either use or fight against!

Andorman223 is main character of ao

i hold the game together
if i depart even for a moment it will wither away and die in hours
this is canon btw

That’s uh…

That’s what AO is.

I.. I know.
:frcryin:

what if it’s music

sounds cool is still not a deciding matter, you could have awesome battle music that sounds cool, but isn’t cool when it’s used for a somber scene.

fair enough
