So, considering that I haven’t seen glass magic much, and it has good synergies with heat magic, I decided to test it out on a throwaway character, and, well, spoiler alert: Paper has a competitor. I’m only at level 25, so this knowledge is limited thus far.
I’ll start with initial impressions:
Glass Magic synergizes well with heat magics, due to its bleed, and its speed and size make it like gold and iron, but you ALWAYS get a bleed, and it isn’t loaded with prediction for high damage. It also directly synergizes with Acid for a 20% damage bonus on corroding targets.
Surprise Impression:
The main reason I decided to test Glass was because I witnessed a MC captain with it. And I saw the one thing I never knew Glass had:
Magic debris.
For those that don’t know, Explosions, Hover, and Flight spells on Glass Magic cause it to drop glass panes, which, when stepped on by anyone else deal damage. This may just seem like a dumber version of puddles and clouds to you, but alas, it has two gimmicks: First, glass debris can be hard to spot. Pretty obvious, catch somebody off guard, but we’re only getting started. Second, glass panes act like debris, allowing you to spread the death trap out with destructive magic, and make piles to climb on, which will ALWAYS harm others
Okay, sure, that’s cool and all, but what about the actual field test?
Field Test Part 1:
(Level 1-25 documentation) First of all, Glass can stand by itself quite well. The bleeding grants it DoT, the speed is solid, magic size is good, and blasts deal decent damage. While kind of boring, Glass will get you through the first hurdle of the game. Now onto the stuff I thought was special.
Glass Magic has the interesting quirk that all the metal magics and its “usuper”, paper, do, but it happens with each hit, no matter enemy’s max HP: Bleed Stacking. Each hit with Glass applies its own bleed (or it can apply like 3-4 bleeds max, idk), adding MORE DoT to the already decent, well-synergized bleed DoT. Second, while it isn’t as fast, nor does it have the funny ink synergy, Glass can beat out Paper, simply due to debris and the heat magic synergies which paper has a DIRECT DYSERGY to. Glass, of course, indirectly synergizes with Fire, Magma, and Plasma, due to the bleed. Paper deals less damage to burning and scorched targets, however, which undermines the bleed synergy and bleed stacking to a large subset of players.
With all of this said, I’ll be doing Part 2 eventually, where I hope to cover the following:
Full potential of Bleed Stacking
Explosion Shape Potential (Includes placed explosions, of course)
High Jumps? (Those might drop glass panes, but I’m not sure. never seen anyone do a Glass high jump, so I don’t know)
I will not cover beams, simply because I don’t like beams tbh.
