The story of Arcane Odyssey is presented blandly in my opinion, so I wanted to reimagine it without any significant plot variation.
Part 1; Awakening.
Current flaws:
- Doesn’t make much sense for us to be left unconscious near the sea while Morden grieves Tucker’s loss.
- Morden’s a nothingburger character, for no good reason; he tells us to go to Redwake and slips into irrelevance until we go to Sailor’s Lodge.
—
The player wakes up in a tavern room (in the Red Fin) in a pool of their own sweat, without any knowledge of who or where they are. They wake up and motion towards the door before finding a note left on the floor.
Dear [Player],
If you’re reading this, you’ve been unconscious for days. You may not recall what happened, so I’ll explain in the simplest terms possible. From what I can piece together, we were captured and experimented on by an organization seeking to increase the power of magic. We escaped thanks to a stray rowboat, and barely escaped the fleet. The other person with us, Tucker, was killed by a cannonball to the head.I can explain everything once we meet again. For now, I recommend you get stronger. If possible, learn to use your magic. I’ve left you with an old dagger, some food, and a change of clothes.
- Morden
And then the game continues as normal beyond that point with Estrid being a sort of tutorial character.
Planning to add on new parts in the comments.
