You wanna become a pro tank producer in HOI4? You wanna make every woman instantly vomit when they see you? Then, WELCOME TO MY GUIDE ON HOW TO MAKE HOI4 TANKS!
I’ll go over the 3 different tanks you can make theres amphibious and modern tanks but who actually uses those
Things to note whenever making any type of tank
- Don’t let reliability go below 80-85 percent (this results in the tank exploding and bursting into flames after it leaves the factory it was just made in)
- They’re supposed to have ARMOR, they’re not tractors with guns
- Let your tank have a purpose, to fight infantry or to mow down heavy armored things (other tanks, forts)
- Always fuck around with the armor and engine + - at the bottom right
- If motorized/mechanized divisions can do the job better than the tanks you’re using, use those because they’re cheaper to make (there’s no way you can fuck this up that badly for that to happen, surely?)
- Note that some countries have a much bigger industry and will be able to spew out tanks earlier before others do. The Germans, the Soviets, the Italians, the French, the Americans, and the Brits usually manage to get some out pretty quickly.
I’ll be sharing with you my tank templates, the light tanks are for early game, heavy and mediums for mid-late game. You might find yourself adjusting more high tech things on them, but that’s because the heavies and mediums are made for the start of 1940, not for '43-45
— LIGHT TANKS —
They got soft attack, speed (which is debatably a useless stat) and a decent amount of breakthrough. And a small amount of armor, too.
Realistically you should only make and produce light tanks up until 1940, as their ass armor stat will end up in you having your knees broken.
These are the epitome of “just get the job done”, light tanks are usually made to fight infantry or very lightly armored divisions.
With enough armor, these can be pretty decent in multiplayer. Just get ready for some nolife sweat to have the most meta heavy tank build and crush you with their bullshit stats.
Here’s my personal favorite light tank template. You should be able to get a decent amount of these by 1939.
Criticize it, I don’t care. It’s got good enough armor, decent reliability and all that good stuff. Some things might be a little off because I used research all to make all of these templates, 1 or 2 things might of been off idk.
— Medium Tanks —
The best of both worlds. Speed and armor.
I personally like these the most, they’re fun to use and regardless of your set-up, you still shouldn’t be getting you ass beat.
Here’s my 1940-41 tank template. Radio and main armament might be a little over-researched.
Sometimes I might change the main armament to be more for anti-tank purposes, but anything works in Singleplayer. If you’re gonna be copying these for a multiplayer game, go for the heavy guns.

ARMOR
ARMOR ARMOR ARMOR
AAARRRMOOOOORRR
That’s what these are meant for. Enemy fortifications? GONE. Enemy tanks? GONE!
Invest into that PIERCING AND ARMOR. If you’re not investing into that, you’re basically making a worse medium tank that’s more expensive to produce.
Here’s my heavy tank template for 1940.
Again, some stuff might be under or over researched.
Alright that’s it. I think I definitely forgot to mention a lot of things but it is 8 pm as of writing this and I can smell sugar cookies for some reason. Is someone baking something in my house? God damn. Well, see you.

“Yeah it’s PilsudskiGaming, what’s up?”
“Wait, nobody plays HOI4 here and I just wrote this all for nothing?”
“Aww fuck… I hope someone gets a laugh out of it at least.”
