Wouldn’t that take more time? 
Usually I’m for more customization but this seems unnecessary, vetex could just add more hair selections rather than make a system where it would have to grab the hair from the ID, properly fit it to your head, give it the same texture as AO hair (which could be difficult depending on what type of mesh it is) and allow it to be colored (also could be difficult depending on the type of mesh).
Seems like a whole lot of work for a small feature. Adding in new options is just the better option imo 
People would never be satisfied with the amount of hairs added so biting the bullet and adding a custom hair system is probably for the best
Im mixed on this ngl, custom hairs looks cool but it’s going to be chaotic as seen with what happened to Deepwoken. I’d kinda prefer Vetex choosing what hairs are appropriate but at the same time, the hairs he added are sometimes clipping on a lot of hats which custom hairs fixes…

What would be cool is to eventually have hairs alter themselves based on what you wear, but that’s a big job.
as long as there arent horse heads, skibidi toilets, or mahoraga halos running around this should be fine
no those are peak we are keeping those
i forgot about the giant moai heads and refrigerators that cover your whole character
what you’re referring to USUALLY wouldn’t count as a hair, unless its specifically designed to look like that in deepwoken where some modelers have made a “hair” thats literally just mahoraga’s halo
