New weapon for the siege slot: A massive harpoon gun
Details/background on your proposal
Okay hear me out, it would be an item that would go in the siege weapon slot that would look like one of the massive harpoon guns that are at the forest of masts and they would operate similar with a decent cool you would be able to fire it at someone’s ship and if it hits it would latch on and start reeling them in.
Reason to add/change
This would serve as a counter to speed ship builds and would require people to invest in other slots and ofc satiability would reduce how long you are attached to the harpoon. Honestly I just think that something like this would be a cool edition to ship combat.
I like it, but I would prefer it be in a seperate slot for larger ships rather than the siege weapon slot. The main reason being I don’t want to have to choose between a mortar and this.
I like it being a counter to speed ships, and thought i see where you’re coming from, @Ultimateblaze75, I think adding an another slot for that wouldn’t work, at least not for brigs (not sure about higher tier ships). And about it taking the mortar slot, that would make players decide whether they want a mortar for choosing an area to strike, or a harpoon, changing their playstyle, to catch ships (a possible follow up in the far future could be boarding, if vetex finds the time, way, and energy).
I think it should get its own slot instead of the mortar. But I’d say there should be two types as well, one for ships and one for sea creatures.
The latter would latch on a creature, not letting it go too far away, making it easier to hit with ship attachments.
I think it’d also be cool if too small ships get dragged by giant sea creatures. Just imagine a sailboat being dragged by two megalodons, or, even better, a brig coming from the Dark sea, being pulled by a giant white eyes
I’d like to see some more variety in Siege ship weapons, especially when it comes down to creating different playstyles. Plus, this definitely gives off Monster Hunter vibes.
I think that the rope durability should be the harpoon’s stat, like fuse length, range, damage etc.
The higher it is, the more dragging at max length would it take for the rope to break
we need arcanium this so i can have yellow lightning arcanium harpoon cannon so whenever the enemy tries to sail away i’ll yell “GRAND JAVELIN” and shoot the other guy with this and reel him in
Very nice, looking forward to recreating the Sinbad scene where I harpoon a giant creature beyond human comprehension and it just drags me along at high speeds.
