Asking this because I recently bought a game on Steam called Finding Sparky with no real reason other than to trim my wishlist. I’m in a later part of the game, and it’s been shaping up to be possibly my favorite game of all time. It’s impressive, given that it’s an indie game that I didn’t grow up with; the main reason it’s getting there is because it’s been the only game to nearly make me cry.
Never heard of it? I wouldn’t blame you, because barely anything on the game is on the internet. A couple of store pages on Google, two posts on Bluesky that were just links to the game, nothing interesting on Twitter other than allegations, and not a sliver of a mention on Reddit.
Spelunky 2, Slay the spire, Enter the gungeon, Dark souls, L4D2, Katana zero, and Nine sols are all masterpieces that i just picked up somewhat randomly, and fell in love with.
ESPECIALLY the last 2, i cant recommend them enough.
I was searching through random games to play - among the many that didn’t interest me, a free one stuck out. Sector’s Edge. It turned out to become one of my favorite games, which made it all the more saddening when the servers were shut down.
A friend of mine was pestering me to play with them one night, so I relented and joined their game. Next thing I know, I’ve sunk hundreds of hours into it and Arcane Odyssey has become my favorite game on Roblox.
While scrolling through the top-rated games on steam (once more was bored), I saw an indie game that caught my eye - Oneshot. A few hours of playtime later, I’ve found my favorite game of all time.
The list goes on. Project Wingman, Armored Core 6, Cosmoteer, and more. All from blindly searching because I was just bored. I didn’t expect much going into them, yet found great enjoyment in them as they became some of my favorites.
Hollow Knight (silksong news June 6th), Clair Obscura: Expedition 33, Helldivers 2, couple others but these ones are the main ones that have had some kind of big impact on me and became some of my favorites
