my take on it is it sounds good on paper but in all reality its extremely poor artificial difficulty, the dark sea as a whole is an extremely poorly executed idea. you dont even NEED to go into it anymore since you can just send your fleet in there. the one thing that needs to be changed the most is how you get sealed chests
the way i’d change it would be short and simple, kill every atlantean on an island and then 5-20 dark sealed chests will go straight into your ships storage depending on how big the island was and the level of the atlanteans
i think the way i would build it is just by “chunks” kind of like minecraft, if you look at current wom you can very easily notice that the terrain is just a bunch of squares with some wedges
For sure, It’ll take some time but I dont think its impossible. The only issue is probably elevation as I dont think theres a set one except for the ones already built
okay since everyone is already here talking about the vetex design philosophy, can someone explain to me how skyhall happened and will it be retconned like a fever dream
like, dont get me wrong i loved that section of the story but HOLY CRAP was it genuinely the weakest part of the story. it was like rising action going into skyhall, dipping extremely far down into no plot relevance during it, then trying to build back up that rising action with the storming the fenrir section after
im scared for chapter 10 honestly, cause its definitely gotta be something to take sky-neverrelevanttothestory-hall off my mind when playing. but hey, another peice of imput i wanted to give this lost passion post was this; methinks that vetex is going through stuff irl and thats another reason ontop of him kinda being lillyhopping around updates
thats fine, actually encouraged to take some breaks, but please if chapter 10 is supposed to be a climax near the end of nimbus, please dont sell it short and please after this update JUST KEEP MAKING THE GAME BETTER! like please im begging on my hands and knees not to have my build dictated by biased people that with one snap my mage is a quarter of what it used to be last update, that seriously isnt balance, please be passionate enough to think with your brain about “remove fires DOT and replace its speed stat with 0”
Oh yeah I forgot it’s AnalyticsService. My bad lol. I just call it GameEventService in my game as a wrapper so it can cleanly fit with my game’s other telemetry systems.
i think this is far and away the largest problem with ao’s postgame and the main reason that the playercount is dropping so low. the moment you’ve run out of things to just simply progress toward and the moment you just want to play to have some fun, all of the game’s ‘minor’ issues start compounding on each other and become completely inexcusable…
as an example, i’ve tried like 3 or so runs in order to take down the elusive ancient dragon, so let’s see all of the inconveniences that i have to deal with in order to get to that point:
since i don’t keep playing after i die to an ancient dragon (since i’ve sank about an hour into this already and i don’t care to do it again), i’ve got to repair my boat at the shipwright. for immersion reasons, it takes about 30s-1m for the shipwright to slowly nurse it back to full hp
once i actually reach the dark sea, i now have to sail forty minutes in order to get to the boss arena
the dark sea weather presents two major ones: the waves are completely unavoidable and sometimes take off massive chunks of ship hp, and the tornadoes are often times completely invisible until i am directly inside of them
also, the sound mixing of the dark sea is actually so god awful to the point where i think it counts
water poisoning
after i reach the middle of the dark sea, sensing now becomes completely unreliable. this means that when i reach my destination, it’s really hard to tell whether or not i’m going further into the dark sea or not
when i actually reach the dragon island, i have to take off my perfectly fine vanity and replace it with knight metal armor vanity in order to avoid ruined armor and like 50% of the dragon’s physical attacks for some reason
add on all of the bugs you will inevitably encounter and things like dirt that also serve to just generally degrade the whole experience
no other game on the site i can think of (other than maybe deepwoken) goes to this length to irritate you when you’re playing it just to have fun. when fighting pilgrammed bosses, genuinely the only thing i can think of for that game is the boss runbacks.
it’s no wonder people don’t want to play this game for purely the love of the game when it goes to this length in almost every aspect to annoy you, and then the developer goes out and says it’s all intentional
sensing prolly just adds a billboardgui containing the circle image with scaling size to every single item in the game that can be sensed, and then makes them visible when sensing is enabled. there is probably some floating point error with how they render 50k studs away
well its not naturally dissipating, its more like it gets purified/restored because of the AO mc at the end of the story once we get zeus and pan’s god souls to restore the sky and wilderness, we already have poseidon’s soul so we just need the other 2
Can’t wait for the big twist where Silas learns that Dark sea has grown so powerful that he needs 7 god souls to purify it, so he has to hunt down and kill 4 more gods and absorb their souls to turn into a being of unfathomable power, and free humankind once and for all
