Having a N-word pass isn't a pass

title says it all

  1. It’s still racist

you’ve finally obtained the golden N-word pass, but as you make the “n” sound on your mouth, something strange encompasses you. suddenly, you think that maybe, just maybe, this isn’t right, and that even though your friend may have given you a pass, that what you’re doing isn’t really right, and to call a black person that, even if they’re ok with it, isn’t ok.

That’s basically my gripe with it, because no matter where or how you say it, it’s always racist. The reason black people can say it is specifically because they’re the subject of the word, so it’s at least partly defensible, but anyone else saying it will always be racist, and nothing really changes that. I mean, given the entire history of it and its meaning, the word can’t ever not be racist, because that meaning can’t ever be disassociated.

  1. It’s not funny
I see a lot of kids at my school who might be African or have an N-word pass that just blurt it out or utter it like if I suddenly shouted “AMONGUS”. Regardless, it’s not funny. Now, yeah, you can probably do it with any other word, because most words don’t exist to discriminate or hurt people, but a word that specifically exists for the sole purpose of hurting others, that shouldn’t be treated so lightly, and that definitely isn’t ever funny.

  2. It gives power to the word

Honestly, the whole idea of the pass is just imaginary and intangible, it’s honestly just an excuse to be able to say the word. Now, words have power, that’s universally true. Personally, I think every word has some power to it, regardless of what it is. The “pass” is just an ostensible permit to say it, it gives power to people to say it, and in doing so, gives power to the word itself. And yeah, you could say that if only African people can say it, that also gives the word power, because no one else can say it, and in all honesty, that is undoubtedly correct. As long as the word is uttered, it’ll have power, and to really end racism, to truly abolish it, it’s best that it just isn’t uttered at all by anyone, black or not.
wrote this post mainly because I see some of my friends and lots of kids say it, and while it does piss me off, i couldn’t really say anything to make anyone care to not say it, but I really hope that this post might do so.

you literally told me I should die because I said I don’t like rootbeer

actual goof

idk about you but if I get a pass…………

:smiling_imp:

Exactly. Being able to say it doesn’t make it any less racist.

Yeah, I don’t get why it seems to be popular in rap songs, and I don’t get why people think it’s funny.

I agree. Continuing to acknowledge the existence of the n-word only gives it meaning. If we as society forget about it, the word will no longer have any real meaning.

I think he was just venting:

The ar community is over there

Icl Ify it be hella annoying when people ask me for it but like at the end of the day people j immature so it j gets ignored though it’s quite random to bring up in a server about a roblox game

im black my self and u should only say it near people who gave u permission to do so no other people who did not give u permission to say it
