Vetex has explicitly stated the gimmick of aether is its “fast, explosive light” not whatever this is
I’ve always assumed it’s just THAT obvious, that it doesn’t even need to be said.
All footage of exploiters using Aether that I know of shows exclusively moves with multiple seconds of charge time.
Aside from imbuement, Calvus has some heavy charging time on everything.
I don’t think he ever said it was fast, and it absolutely is not.
Also, let’s not forget, the only playable appearance of Aether, Aethereal Ornament, is all about having ginormous charging time.

I assume not, AA’s magic looks ALOT stronger in comparison, especially when we’re looking at something like Plasma, or any former mutation turned into a base magic.
Also seen in how Shadow Magic was an actual fucking beast of a magic in the Seven Seas with Withering
And Mages in AA are just objectively stronger than in AO
