I think that’s why sand doesn’t work but tbh a lot of magic interactions don’t make sense it’s either bias or just stupidity
Been kinda hoping waterproofing would just be scrapped sad to hear this though since it’s recent confirmation it’s still planned
friendly reminder;
Sand and ice also disappear in water. I happen to have picked both as my magics for mage. I cannot damage anything that is fully submerged in water. I cannot kill sharks.
Both of those are the most water-related things I can possibly think of. One of them is quite literally just cold water, and the other is constantly in and around water all over the globe…
all magics that don’t work underwater (that i know of):
sand
magma
ice
fire
plasma
explosion
ash
snow (i think)
And water is only a conductor while there’s some sort of salt diluted in it. So the ocean would be even worse for lightning magic since you’d end up having a metric ton of AoE, hitting not only everyone in a 10 meter radius for a pitiful amout of damage, you’d also hit yourself, potentially short circuiting
O love applying real life logic to games!!
Considering the fact you can use spells like explosion and javelin without damaging yourself and the fact you can walk into your own hazards I’m 100% sure you wouldn’t damage yourself.
