Heat magic rant

I am so annoyed being cheesed by both players and npcs alike.WHY DO HEAT MAGICS DISSAPEAR IN THE WATER???Make them be able to go through the water without this stupid waterproofing quest your gonna add in like 5 years time. The magics that can’t go through water already have a negative synergy with soaked meaning they do less damage to people in water for the most part, also won’t this take up one of our passives just because we selected 1 of like half the magics in the game? the stats of heat magics aren’t even too good either

its not really what suggestions are for. its for new ideas, not just ranting cuz a planned feature isnt there yet

I’m pretty sure something like this is already added but the way the heat-magic works will change under water. Ex fire magic → “steam magic” in water

Ranting is not a suggestion

moving this to game discussion because it’s a rant

Lore reasons

Fire/Flare/Heat → Steam
Plasma → “Electricity”
Magma → “Bedrock”
Ash/Explosion → “Dust”

And this kids is what we see as a double heat magic user suffering the consequences of his actions.

So remember kids! Never play double heat magic or you’ll suffer the consequences of not being able to touch water! (Not like any AO player does…)

Realism and balancing but waterproofing will be added as a learnable skill (I think next update since Vetex claimed some of the new npcs being added next update will reach you skills)

Thinking about it pseudo-realistically (it’s magic), water really shouldn’t destroy the heat pellets.
Thermal energy isn’t the same as a chemical reaction, superheated gas, molten rock, powdery residues, or a mix of all of the above.

How’s that gonna work, am I gonna shoot regular lightning magic or go full Sith on the fish?

Why would plasma make electricity anyway? Just because electricity is a kind of plasma?

No vetex said waterproofing isn’t coming in full release

Is Vetex aware that Steam and Dust also cannot sustain underwater?

If we go by that logic i don’t think lightning can either or acid. Or water magic even or wind too

Well, electricity underwater is a whole thing, it ought to amplify it, acid is a fellow liquid so it could surely move underwater, Water Magic is most likely just pushing the water forward, and wind, yeah wind shouldn’t work.

My point with acid was that it should like… melt into the water or smth and water magic would just like fuse with the surrounding water and dissipate

Well it’s for the same reason that wind doesn’t fuse with the air, it’s moving.

Also, tell me how Ice Magic can’t keep in water. There is ice in water in AO.

“Water” is a conductor. Adding electricity to a large body of water will only serve to dissipate it, just like powder.

I feel like it’s somewhat of a thematic thing, and normally if you release electricity from a single point it will dissipate all around no matter where you put it, but it works in the air because it’s a magic spell.

Technically, I suppose that means Dust would work.
