My friend is really bad at AO! We fought elius, elius died, and he hadn’t even hit him once! (This was at level btw) We/ I had to keep fighting Elius at double hp while my friend stood around trying hit explosions! What should I do? Should I sell my friend?
call him skill issue and make him solo the game so he knows how to aim

Your friend is gonna struggle with Calvus. Let him learn how to fight by making him solo Argos or Elius.
I have the same case with a friend of mine, she wanted to use weapons so she went for a warrior build but she had no weapons for some reason and the only ones she had she didn’t want to use them. Then for the story she couldn’t defeat a single enemy so I carried her from Iris to Calvus and now she’s stuck at wind row with a messed up build and her vindicator deals 98 damage waiting for the Dark Sea update because she promised she’d play with me 
I assume this is an issue of having pitiful armor or something?
My sister’s a bit of the same way, tbh, she isn’t terrible at the game, but couldn’t be Ellius. That said, she just wants to play the game with me, not really master it. Idk what I’m going to do when the bosses get harder. I kinda want her to take on Argos alone, as he’s a more reasonable challenge than mr teleport lightning guy.
Yes her build is super fucked up and she doesn’t even have 3 accessories and she uses leather pants and the chest I forgor

… yeah, you need to get her something, otherwise she’ll get absolutely shredded in the Dark Sea. Literally just give her centurion armor or something. Anything is better than leather armor.
Yeah I’m just waiting for the Dark Sea to drag her by force and experience everything together while she dies.
