Henry has always had a third of his soul missing, which meant he literally couldn’t pass unto any afterlife nor reincarnate due to that.
Which he was fine with since he’d still prefer to live a mortal life, however when chronos’s spirit was dying, time itself was falling apart, so Henry being one of the few time mages in existence was still able to move when time collapsed.
He wasn’t gonna allow Chronos’s followers to restart Chronos’s conquest all over again, nor sacrifice his daughter and let her become the keeper of time, so Henry ended up merging the waning spirit of Chronos with his, allowing time to live once more.
Merging and filling the missing portion of his soul but taking away his mortality and giving him the single task of ensuring time isn’t undone.
TLDR: Merged with Chronos, that is pretty much just the other portion of his body that’s visible

ironically hes the kinda guy who wants to live a mortal life by spending his time adventuring and with his family
he can’t really do either as he will not only outlive them but has a duty to time
in some ironic or metaphorical way hes running outta time. cuz he might not be able to experience it all, somehow?
