Hero or villain?

I honestly have no idea which one to choose so I’m finna ask the community

Hero if you want to play the game normally, villain if you want to grind bronze sealed chests

villain:

  • can hunt gravy cocksuckers
  • free cargo
  • can use criminal town
  • easier to grind deckhands/sealeds
  • can open private storage

im ngl just fight back against hunters buddy

If you are just begining your Arcane Odyssey, then pick hero
If you dont want any troubles and be all by you, then pick neutral
if you want some challange and more freedom in what you can do, then pick villain

villan bec you can do whatever you want

villain has 2x the features of hero but gets you hunted more often by players

Villain’s only noteworthy advantage is being able to steal cargo for free for dark sea expeditions.
If you aren’t doing that, go for hero, villain isn’t worth it.

hero if you wanna play normally

villain pros:
free cargo
sink whatever ships you want
hunt players whether they are villain or not
villain cons:
navy constantly chases you
anyone can hunt you too
more people will hunt you ig
and uhh
if a navy brig catches you lacking they will attack

bro nobody hunts if you keep ur bounty low and just avoid the navy like you would with pirates

my bounty is high and nobody has ever hunted me (I forgot what it is)

NOTE: Heros can still sink all ships, you just can’t damage the NPCs (so deckhand leveling is the same)

Additionally, there’s like a 50% chance you still get sealed chests because the NPCs spawn weird and the game thinks you killed the crew. I believe the chance of this happening increases with server age.

i think this happens because the crew are just floating somewhere in the middle of the ocean and fall into the void after their ship sinks

This happens sometimes but other times they just take a few seconds to spawn in and the chests end up loading before the crew does
