Is there a way I can just get better, it seems hard to. Compared to release and now, I have gotten better but for how much hours i spent on the game, I should have been a lot better by now.
If you mean get better at PvP, I’ve heard that the best way to do that is just by fighting people a lot. There are lots of ppl on the forums and in discord servers that PvP often, so you can ask around to find ppl to help you practice and work on improving

i am trying to get combat wise, i dont pvp, i just wanna be able to not die more, and also other stuff

Oh if you mean getting better at the general game like bosses and high level NPCs, best place to start is making sure you have a good armour build. After that you can hunt a bunch of high level criminals to get used to combat against them, or fight some of the stronger bosses like Maria and Calvus to practice how to dodge/parry/aim at NPCs.
dont attack without thinking, wait when the boss attack first, memorize their pattern, and attack them during their downtime, same logic applies to players but obviously more varied cause they have a brain
learn your tools too, their speed is especially important to gauge how far you shoudl keep your distance so you can avoid damage but still actually hit

my main armor build is more focused on power and def, i got 147 power and 900 def, and i also use shadow, which i have been using for the past year. I can kill calvus and lvl 260 crims(most of the time) its usually when facing off against multiple high lvl npcs which i struggle with
