He literally had the cloud curse and could’ve just disguised himself as a cloud for a few months until the search blows over

He was dragged down with the devourer in his chest so presumably they had it in him from the moment they caught him. As for how I’d guess he probably got out of cloud form to rest for a bit, based on the fact that Cursebeard used the energy curse for infinite energy other curse users probably do have to rest after a while of continuous use of their curse. Then somebody, probably argos, jumps him from behind with the devourer or something like that.

But the lore doc says that curses give the user unlimited magic energy, which is one reason why they’re immortal

Can you point out where it says that cause I can’t find it. Also even if that is true sensing means they can find him so long as he isn’t one of the people who can lower their perceived energy.
His death is on the level of stupidity as Jeanne’s from bayo 3

On second thought, maybe that’s why Elius and his goons were sent to capture beringer instead of the stronger people. Because Beringer wouldn’t see their power level as a threat

Phasing into smoke won’t protect him from magic attacks (which includes devourers, weapon auras, and fighting styles). All the order members on that mission had to do, was use magic to block Beringer from flying away, long enough for Argos to impale him.
Hiding in the sky for months probably wouldn’t be doable. They would probably be able to sense him anyway, and also, I don’t think Beringer would have the stamina to keep that up for so long, since I’m pretty sure the only curse users with infinite stamina are one’s with the energy curse.
