How do we get down safely from summit islands in the Dark Sea while holding dark sea chests since fall damage is coming in FR?

lets say, you find the mount Olympus in the dark sea or smth, after climbing to the peak you find like 20+ DS chests, you pick 2 of em up and “dream on” off the cliff, then when you least expect it, you become a part of the sea as water also causes fall damage when you get to high enough velocity

give me your thoughts on how to solve this problem for the future?
maybe a new feature? gib thoughts

ah, so a feature? and like, a “gear” could it be different from your clothes? like an item you have in your inventory or smth???

thats what it is

Climbing gear is an obtainable item that upgrades your climbing:

just a base add-on for climbing, not something you need to equip

So… we add a band-aid solution that makes getting down Dark Sea islands as slow as it is getting up them.

Vetex, just add the damn gear while keeping fall damage out of the game. It’s not that hard—in fact, it’s less effort.

If I remember right, climbing gear has a couple other super useful functions:
1: Letting you recover stamina while climbing by staying still
2: Letting you climb across ceilings. We’ve all explored the dark sea, we’ve all wanted to do this.

Honestly, I just want to hear why vetex wants fall damage in the game.
It doesn’t sound like it fits but he’s insistent on it so there must be some reason he wants it.
I don’t think he’s ever shared his actual thought process about stuff like this, it’d clear up a lot of this if he’d just talk to people with concerns without it being hostile.

Or he could just say ‘realism’ and the community would (frankly rightfully) jump on him like rabid dogs for crossing the line where the immersion features start to actively hinder gameplay.
(dirt and tanning do not hinder gameplay, they are solely cosmetic)

If he doesn’t want that potential misconception, he’s gotta speak up.

He wants funny fall damage death clips no matter the cost

Yes this is a genuine guess

Whole heartedly don’t think this forums users understand what a bandaid solution is

fall damage isn’t going to be a big deal everyone just hears it and immediately thinks of like a souls game where you fall 2 meters and you die

the baseline for fall damage is 3x tjump height and its heavily reduced based on kb (so wind mages can’t one shot people), and its heavily reduced when landing in water not to mention the climbing gear for any other scenario

there is no point in which fall damage is going to pose an extremely significant threat to you unless you purposefully jump off a large cliff expecting to die

pray

and climbing gear + deckhands carrying your sealeds

kinda hope they put a reminder for people to grab climbing gear when update comes out since its right at the stepstones (unless you just simply unlock it automatically after completing that story part then thats awesome but no ones confirmed it )

:broken_heart: every1 either gonna be gunning straight for the stepstones when update releases or most people are just gonna forget about it

this is the perfect time for vetex to uncap the height at which slam moves do damage

or at least increase it
