Alalean: Al-a-nee-an
Vistarian: (Fist but F is V)Vist-air-ee-an
Castlian: Cast-ill-ee-an
I don’t know why I say Alalean without the second l or Castlian as how I say it but I’m weird so I’m going to continue saying it my way
Al-ah-lay-an
Vist-air-ian
Kast-il-ian
Al-ay-lee-an
Vist-air-ee-an
cast-il-lee-an
A-Le-Lee-an
Vist-a-ree-an
Cast-eel-ian
Alalean (A lail lee yin)
Vistarian (Viz stare ree yin)
Castlian (Cast lee un)
alalean - duh-mb
castlian - id-ee-ot
vistarian - chad
I kept pronouncing Castlian as cas-til-ian
Depends on the context.
If I’m suppressing my accent:
Alalean:
/æ.lə.'leɪ.ən/
That’s like a-luh-LEY-en.
When speaking quickly, I lengthen the first vowel and completely skip the second syllable. I tend to do that when both consonants are the same. Not sure if that’s dialectal or not.
Vistarian:
/vɪs.'tɑ.ɹi.ən/
That’s like vis-TA-ri-uhn.
Probably similar to most people here.
Castlian:
/'kæs.lɪ.ən/
That’s like KAS-li-uhn.
Yeah, naturally I don’t pronounce the t in that word. It’s the same for any stC clusters, even when the last consonant is r, but in that case it sounds more like “shr” but not quite. Wiktionary has the actual sound here.
It’s not actually as nightmarish as it looks, but I’m not trying to start a lecture here.
When I’m not suppressing my accent (which would be all the time since I don’t have any real life friends that play World of Magic):
Alalean:
/a.la.'le.(j)an/
If you speak Mexican Spanish then you can probably do it.
Vistarian:
/vis.'ta.Éľi.(j)an/
Same as above.
Also the “r” sound changes.
Castlian:
/'kas.ti.lan/ or /kas.'ti.li.an/
This one is ridiculously hard to pronounce normally because of the cluster.
uh-lay-lee-an
vis-stair-ee-an
Cas-sil-ee-an
Stupid Culture
Vis-tar-ree-an
Cas-ti-lee-an
No matter what. The universal way of saying Castlian is Ca-stil-ee-an.
I even spell it Castilian
No one knows why or how
It is just like this.
Al-eh-le-an
Vist-air-ean
Cast-el-ian
It’s because Castlian sounds smoother and more natural as “Cast-ill-ean”,or how you put it as. Instead of saying “Cast-lee-an”.
So our brains “auto-correct” it so that it’s easier to pronounce.
a-la-lay-an
vist-air-ee-an
cast-il-ee-an (I just realized I’ve been saying this wrong)
Ah-lay-lee-an
Vis-tare-ri-an
Cas-til-li-an (actually cast-li-an now that i realised it’s spelled castlian not castilian)
Alalean: Al-e-lay-an
Vistarian: Vist-are-e-n
Castlian: Cast-i-lay-an
Alla-lay-an
Vizz-tar-ian
Poop-li-an
A-lee-ley-in
Vis-aeyr-e-in
Ca-sta-lee-in
Uh-lay-Lee-an
Vis-stair-ian
And for some odd reason
Cast-stallion
